Bordeaux The agglomeration of Bordeaux has about 737,000 inhabitants. Bordeaux is 2000 years old, it is the world s capital of wine and has a unique architectural heritage, with its outstanding protected area from the 18th century and the largest neoclassical façade in Europe. Bordeaux owes its fortune to its wines, its port called Port of the Moon (because of the crescent shape formed by the Garonne), and the colonial trade (sugar, slaves) which reached its golden age in the 18th century.

Presentation of PESSAC Pessac : city of 57 000 inhabitants Third city of the department of Gironde In the South of the urban area of Bordeaux Accessibility : Served by several means of transportation : train, streetcar, highway, ring road Pessac is the southwestern gateway to the city of Bordeaux. It is renowned for its wines from Pessac-Léognan that are internationally known. There is also a large university campus (50 000 students), many research laboratories and industrial parks (mathematics, optics, chemistry and physics of materials, computers and microelectronics, food, health and biotechnology).

The Headmaster s word Pessac is part of the urban community of Bordeaux. The vocationnal highschool Philadelphe de Gerde offers industrial trainings, as well as sales and trade. The «Gironde» is an area made of rivers, estuary, lakes, basin and ocean. The highschool and its environment Our location is ideal : - Near an industrial and commercial zone and a technological park with companies, restaurants, businesses - Close to one of the largest university campus of Europe. - Alongside the monetary establishment of Pessac, factory which strikes euro coins.
