Latin I Empire Project Your quarter 1 project is to research a province of the Roman Empire. You will pretend to be a scout for the emperor, sent to a new land to determine whether Rome should attempt to conquer it or not. You must send back a report to the emperor detailing what you have found in this new land. Your report should include: 1. A HAND-DRAWN, colored map of the region 2. A list of at least 5 benefits for Rome if the land is conquered 3. A list of at least 3 potential hazards if the land is conquered 4. A description (1/2 page) of the terrain, people, etc. that you have seen in the region Your report should be: 1. Organized 2. Neat 3. Colorful 4. interesting 5. Latin I Mythology Portfolio The Mythology is a project that we will be working on during the 2 nd quarter. There will be several different parts of the project that you will put together to make up one finished. It will be your responsibility to keep track of your materials throughout the quarter and hand them all in together at the end. Each part will be graded separately, and then the entire will be graded when it is completed. We will spend a little bit of class time on the, but not enough for you to complete it in class. You must work on the on your own time in order to complete it by the end of the quarter. Your must include the following: 1. A cover or binding of some kind to keep all the materials together (see me if you need a cover) 2. A title page listing what is in the 3. All tasks 4. Your task checklist (completed) 5. Motto Project SPQR Your project is to research and present the Latin motto of a college, state, branch of service, etc. that means something to you. You must find out how that motto is translated in English, and then tell the class why that institution chose that motto. In other words, why is that motto important to them? What is its significance? You will need to create a poster with the Latin and English translation on it. It must include a picture of some relevance to the motto or institution. The picture can be hand-drawn, cut out of a magazine, or from clip art. The poster will be presented to the class. This is an opportunity for you and your classmates to learn something about the college you will be attending, the state you are from, the branch of service your grandfather was in, etc. Have fun!
