ALUMNI Future prospects after graduating from Macromedia University. I went back to university to strengthen my business and industry know-how and start my own television production company and put all those creative thoughts on tape. The Macromedia University offered me exactly that to reach far and reach high and do it with the best support you can get. Education: B.A., Sociology and Psychology, University of Calgary, Canada; Diploma, Broadcast News Journalism, S.A.I.T., Calgary, Canada Vanessa M. Bouwman, M.A., Account Director, We are Social Deutschland GmbH, Munich. Studied Media and Communication Management (M.A.). By obtaining my M.A. in Media and Communication Management, I developed a broad set of skills to help me understand the media industry as well as its underlying business models. I also acquired useful knowledge in media economics and entrepreneurship. Furthermore, the alumni network has helped me keep in touch with the university and its professors and ultimately to set up my own start-up in Berlin. Education: Bachelor of Arts (Design Management) Emanuel Hoch, M.A., CEO Wingman Ventures GmbH, Berlin. Studied Media and Communication Management (M.A.). 6

The Media and Communication Management Master s degree at the Macromedia University offered me the perfect environment to broaden my in-depth knowledge in this field. Working on real management and communication projects in small international teams and being supported by professors that have been or still are working in the industry are just some of the many advantages I see in this course offer. Education: Bachelor of Science (Sound Technology and Digital Music) Tim Holzmüller, M.A., Global Marketing Graduate, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd, Chichester (UK). Studied Media and Communication Management (M.A.). What I liked most about the Master s programme at Macromedia University was the variety of professors and experts who shared their experience from the real world with us. This has taught me more than any textbook ever could. In particular, the real-life projects with media companies made me understand the importance of strategic thinking, managing creativity, the power of good teamwork, the power of innovation, and the challenges that media companies are facing in the age of digitization. I gained expertise, inspiration and motivation to understand, shape and steer media, and this is what makes me proud today to call myself a Media and Communication Manager. Education: Bachelor of Arts (Focus in Digital Media), Union College, NY Sheherezade Dilara Smajgert, M.A., Project Manager, KENIAL Kenianische Waisenkinder in Not e.v., Munich. Studied Media and Communication Management (M.A.). 7

The Macromedia University campus in Berlin is the youngest in the family and situated in the heart of Kreuzberg in central Berlin. Munich is the third largest city in Germany and also the capital of Bavaria. Its proximity to the Alps and many other beautiful tourist spots such as castles and lakes makes it one of the top tourist destinations in Europe. Munich is a city of diversity and vitality, offering everything from art, culture and celebrity flair to relaxing afternoons at Lake Starnberg. In Munich there is nothing you cannot do. The area is ideal for winter sports, to the delight of skiers and snowboarders. In summer you can enjoy mountaineering and hiking in the nearby mountains. And there is nothing more Bavarian than beer garden hospitality. When the Oktoberfest opens its gates in September, people from all over the world come to visit. Situated right next to the Oktoberfest area in the centre of Munich, the Macromedia University campus is just one subway station away from the central station. 26
