I am sure all of you would have received the Annual Report. Several initiatives undertaken during the year have significantly contributed to increased usage and turnover which in turn resulted in a cash profit of Rs. 35.07 lacs after providing for the entertainment tax of Rs. 29.82 lacs. After several years an excess of income over expenditure of Rs. 1.51 lacs has been reported. Along with the AGM elections will be held for the post of President, Vice- President, Secretary, Treasurer and five committee members. I look forward to your presence and meaningful deliberations at the meeting. Month of August was packed with numerous events. The Independence Day eve programme on 14th Aug a dance programme Unity in Diversity followed by flag hoisting on 15th Aug were well attended. The gym competition saw enthusiastic participation and the prize distribution on 27th Aug was a grand affair. The I bar 4th Anniversary on 28th Aug, was a resounding success which attracted members of all generations and the music by Opus Band was par excellence. The Presidency -Karlsburg invitation tennis tournament was well organized and our club emerged as the winners. The prize distribution on 29th Aug was again a gala function with participation of office bearers of all the leading city clubs. The mega rummy tournament on 29th Aug afternoon was also well organized. I would like to thank each and every one of you for the support extended to the managing committee during the year. President s Message Dear Members, It is time to say Bye, on behalf of this Committee. The last two years, as you are aware, has taken our Club to greater heights. Our Club Calendar has been filled with events for the whole family and I am sure all of you have enjoyed the same. The only sad aspect is the construction of the new wing of our Guest House, which has been delayed due to normal procedural reasons. I am sure the incoming Committee will continue the good work and let me thank all of you for the wonderful support extended to me and to the entire Committee. With warm regards, Ranjit Jacob Gym Competition Gym competition conducted from 21st Aug to 26th Aug was a huge success with enthusiastic participation from members and their families. Various events were conducted both for ladies and gents in different age groups. 2 SEPTEMBER 2010 CLUB CLASS

I Bar Anniversary Opus Nite We have been waiting for Opus for about a year now. While they took us by storm last year, this year too was no less. The anticipation in the air was so positive that you could see ladies and gentlemen of all ages trying to get as close to the action as possible. The evening started with the bar opening up with great offers taken gleefully by the members to set their mood for the enthralling music session that was soon to follow. The band consisting of Carlton Braganza, Alexis D Souza, Judy Das, Venkat Subramaniyam, and Roshan Thomas quickly tingled the musical senses of the older crowd by playing golden oldies from the 60s, 70s and 80s. It was nice to see young members relive their golden days waltzing around with their ladies. They got so involved in the evening and the music that it had to offer, the band found it difficult to gradually up the tempo to cater to the younger generation who were getting quite restless. Then came a delicately deranged version of Hotel California as though to playfully setup a restart to the evening s proceedings with the Biggest Bang. Yeah! rite son of our soil, Benny Dayal, who wasted no time in getting over fifty people to the dance floor instantaneously like within 10 seconds of him holding the mike. Such is his power to entice the crowd and there was no holding back now. The pace and the tempo now got into frenzy and the people loved it. All inhibitions were overcome and the body synced with music that flowed so fluently hit after hit. While all this was happening the Ibar celebrated its 4th anniversary with a cake being cut by President Ranjit Jacob. Mr. T. K. Srinivasan, MIC Bar, ensured that all those who were involved in the successful running of the bar were nicely recognized. The privileged customers of the Ibar were also felicitated for their patronage of the facility through out the year. Clearly it marked the start of an era of members choosing the Ibar as the favourite place to host their families, guests and their business associates. We really have come a long way especially in the choices that are available today in the Ibar from Chivas Regal to Black Label. From Hennessey to Heineken. We truly are, as the younger gen would say rocking and kicking. It is Presidency s pride and particularly to I bar s credit that Kingfisher chose to keep on display and for members use Personal Draft Beer Dispensing Unit. A cute little (capacity of 3.75 ltrs.) pitcher mounted on a plastic base, could be kept on your table. The user friendly dispenser made it so easy and yet so novel to use. The music continued after the break and the members of all ages started to vie with one another for a final place in the 6 SEPTEMBER 2010 CLUB CLASS

imaginary so you think you can dance presidency club show. The last bit of surprise came from the teenage prodigy Roshan Thomas and he sang You Sexy Thing as though he was born with the song built into him. Ofcouse our own super singer Sunanditha also joined to render some peppy numbers. With that high it was time. Yes time to say that the band truly culminated a great year of clubbing in the Ibar.
