The committee would review the supporting data and work to propose possible zoning plans. Membership of the ABC will consist of two representatives from each
elementary and middle school campus and three representatives from each junior high and high school campus. The campus administrator will select campus representatives with the entire committee approved by the Board. Appropriate central administrators will serve as resources as needed. District information and the Board s charge for rezoning considerations would be presented to the entire committee. Only representatives from campuses affected by rezoning and their feeder schools would be involved in making the rezoning recommendations to be presented to the Board. Current Board members cannot serve on the Attendance Boundary Committee. Career And Technology Education (CATE) Advisory Council Mission statement of CATE Advisory council: This council will support high quality technical education for students of all levels by fostering mutually beneficial partnerships with local businesses, offering council on the current and future labor markets to LCISD administration and by creating awareness of how Career and Technology Education positively impact our community. Philosophy - In support of this council's mission statement we agree to adhere to the following operating philosophy: - We will operate with the highest degree of integrity. - We will work to compliment local municipalities' efforts to attract new and dynamic businesses to this area. - We will always require student well-being and safety as the top priority - We will support the Lamar CISD Career and Technology staff to the best of our ability - We will provide unwavering dedication to the goal of producing the most employable graduates in Fort Bend County. Citizen s Bond Committee The Citizen s Bond Committee will provide Districtwide representation when a Bond Election is needed. The committee will develop a recommendation for a Bond Referendum to be transmitted to the Board of Trustees for their consideration after studying the district s needs. Districtwide Student Improvement Council (DSIC) The Districtwide Student Improvement Council will advise the administration in establishing and reviewing the District s educational goals, objectives and major Districtwide classroom instructional programs. The council will serve exclusively in an advisory role except that the council will approve staff development of a Districtwide nature. The council meets monthly unless otherwise notified during the school year (for 2004-2005 at 4:15 on the first Wednesday of each month except December and March). The council will be composed of two-thirds teachers, parent representatives, community members and business representatives that are selected to serve a three-year term.
School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) Mission Statement: The Lamar CISD SHAC serves in an advisory capacity to the Board of Trustees to advocate for the provision of a comprehensive school health program for all students. Duties: To recommend or advise the Board regarding: The number of hours of instruction to be provided in health education. Health education in general and physical education, nutrition services, parental involvement and instruction to prevent the use of tobacco. A coordinated health program. Time spent in physical activity in grades K - 5. Strategies for integrating school health services, counseling and guidance services, a safe and healthy school environment and school employee wellness into the school's health curriculum. Counsel make-up: A majority of the members must be parents of students enrolled in the District and who are not employed by the District. One or more teachers, administrators, District students, health care professionals, members of the business community, law enforcement representatives, senior citizens, clergy, and representatives of nonprofit health organizations. Special Education Advisory Committee Purpose: The Advisory Committee is appointed in order to provide public participation in the planning and development of special education programs in Lamar Consolidated Independent School District. The challenge of providing the best education services for disabled youth requires the direction and creative problem solving of school staff, parents, and community members. It is to this purpose that the committee is formed. Membership: The Advisory Committee is composed of members representing a variety of interests in the education of disabled youth. Representation includes but is not limited to the following groups: 1. Parents of students receiving special education services at elementary and secondary levels 2. Representatives of community agencies who work with families of students who may be eligible to receive special education services 3. Persons who are receiving or have received special education services in the past 4. Representatives from private schools 5. School staff and other interested community members Safety Through Awareness Resistance And Teaching (START) The Safety Through Awareness Resistance and Teaching (START) Committee was formed to provide community participation in the planning and development of substance abuse and gang prevention programs in Lamar Consolidated Independent School District. The challenge of decreasing student substance abuse and activities
that lead to violence in our schools and community requires the direction, support and creative problem solving of school staff, parents and community members. It is to this purpose that the START Committee is formed. The START Advisory Committee is composed of members representing a variety of interests in the education of youth of this community. Representation includes, but is not limited to the following groups: parents, community agencies/organizations, law enforcement, business representatives, doctor/medical representatives, media, school staff, and students in LCISD. Technology Advisory Committee Technology Advisory Committee (TAC) Committee membership will consist of a cross section of members who live in the Lamar High, Terry High and Foster High attendance zones (Blue, Red, Gold), represented by parents, community members, instructional staff and non instructional staff. Committee members will serve in one of seven sub committees aligned with LCISD goals. Subcommittees will include Instruction, Business & Operations, Staff Support, Communications, Safe & Drug Free Schools, Planning and Technology. Sub committees will provide feedback, on both current and future technology initiatives, to the Director of Technology and Board Technology Committee. Committee members will be asked to serve a two year term.
