TABLE OF CONTENTS Introduction 1 Description of the School 2 School's Purpose 3 Notable Achievements and Areas of Improvement 4 Additional Information 5

Introduction Every school has its own story to tell. The context in which teaching and learning takes place influences the processes and procedures by which the school makes decisions around curriculum, instruction, and assessment. The context also impacts the way a school stays faithful to its vision. Many factors contribute to the overall narrative such as an identification of stakeholders, a description of stakeholder engagement, the trends and issues affecting the school, and the kinds of programs and services that a school implements to support student learning. The purpose of the Executive Summary (ES) is to provide a school with an opportunity to describe in narrative form the strengths and challenges it encounters. By doing so, the public and members of the school community will have a more complete picture of how the school perceives itself and the process of self-reflection for continuous improvement. This summary is structured for the school to reflect on how it provides teaching and learning on a day to day basis. Page 1

Description of the School Describe the school's size, community/communities, location, and changes it has experienced in the last three years. Include demographic information about the students, staff, and community at large. What unique features and challenges are associated with the community/communities the school serves? opened August 20, 2012. We have 528 students and 36 teachers. We pulled the majority of our students from three very distinctive schools, Mill Creek Elementary, Ketterlinus, and Crookshank Elementary. All of our teachers at this point have experience in St. Johns County already. We also have students from the area who have previously attended private schools and are entering public schools for the first time. Because we opened this year, one of our biggest challenges is lack of solid data on our students. We will be using Discovery Education and STAR assessments to establish baselines for our students. Our school opened with many ambitious expectations. We are one of three elementary schools in the nation that are piloting Pearson's digital textbooks. We have integrated ipads and computer technology into everyday learning. Page 2

School's Purpose Provide the school's purpose statement and ancillary content such as mission, vision, values, and/or beliefs. Describe how the school embodies its purpose through its program offerings and expectations for students. Our Core Values Respect: We will always strive to be loving, respectful and compassionate towards others, our environment and our community; Confidence: We will show confidence in each other with honesty and integrity; Creativity & Passion: We will be life-long learners who inspire creativity and a passion for learning; Leadership: We will always help each other develop to our greatest potential and become leaders in what we are most passionate about; Laughter & Enjoyment: We will have fun, laugh often and enjoy each day of our life to the greatest extent possible. Our Purpose children come to school excited to be innovative learners and leaders, to be respectful while individual needs are being met through a fun, engaging and rigorous curriculum provided by caring teachers and staff. Our Vision At we provide a welcoming environment that nurtures leadership-building, fosters a caring, inclusive setting, and creates joyful passion for life-long learning while combining the best of traditional instruction with contemporary technology. Our Mission Our mission is to build relationships with our community and local businesses, as we strive to develop educational programs that are environmentally conscious, aligned with district curricula, equitable and enriching for both students and faculty, yet inspiring creativity and driven by data. Page 3

Notable Achievements and Areas of Improvement Describe the school's notable achievements and areas of improvement in the last three years. Additionally, describe areas for improvement that the school is striving to achieve in the next three years. is attempting to receive a LEED certification for being a Green School. We make ice at night and chill the building during the day by running water over the ice. We have the lowest electric bill in the District. Additionally, is only one of very few schools in the Nation that use all digital and all Pearson textbooks. This allows us to utilize a STEM approach and integrate our curriculum across all content areas. We are also a collaborative learning school where every two students share an ipad for our digital learning. Page 4

Additional Information Provide any additional information you would like to share with the public and community that were not prompted in the previous sections. Again, is a new school for the 2012-13 school year. We have attempted to involve the community to the greatest extent possible in developing our vision and concepts for our future. We feel we have a good beginning to our school and look forward to future successes with our students. Page 5
