EGYPT CHINA SURBHI SHARMA, AMITY UNIVERSITY HOST LC : AIESEC IN AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF CAIRO HOME LC : AIESEC IN DELHI UNIVERSITY NAME OF PROJECT : INJAZ Internship Experience- My experience in Egypt was one of best times of my life. The name of the project was Injaz. My job was to work with students (12-22 years old) in middle schools, high schools and teach them work readiness and help them acquire entrepreneurial mind sets. I worked with interns from China, Brazil, Ukraine and Finland and made some of the best friends. It was truly a memorable time of my life. Impact Created- I worked on developing entrepreneurial skills in the students of junior High school along with other international interns and local volunteers. The organization gave us directions on how to go about it and we planned our weekly agenda and worked by organizing workshops and sessions for the students. Learning and Personal Growth- I was always low on confidence and was hesitant in talking on public. After conducting a lot of sessions and workshops and interacting with a lot of people I finally gained the confidence to talk on public. I learnt fun, seriousness, work culture. My trip to various cities in Egypt along with my international friends taught me a lot about other cultures. I would say that the learning I acquired in my internship changed me totally as a person. SIDDHANT GUPTA, ISM DHANBAD HOME LC : AIESEC KOLKATA HOST LC : AIESEC ZJU, CHINA NAME OF PROJECT : LOW CARBON IN CHINA Internship Experience- I worked in a Low Carbon Science Museum where I was to advocate low carbon policies, help students understand the idea of the subject and also present reports on low carbon policies of India. It helped me build a much broader and global mindset, while addressing global issues instead of local and understanding other mindsets while supporting their causes. In all, it was a once in a lifetime experience while teaching me a lot of things which I could not have been able to learn while staying in India. It simply helped me to broaden my spectrum, broaden my mindset and develop my personality in ways I could not have imagined otherwise. Impact Created- I contributed by helping the Chinese faculty in finding more material in relation to low carbon sciences and also introduced Indian culture into their lives. I acquainted them with the low carbon policies in India through my report and told them more about how to plan activities, giving them insight as to how planning of events is done in India. I worked in the youth development and academic exchange departments and carried out activities in both of them. Learning and Personal Growth- I had to work 5 days a week, 8 hours a day, so this internship introduced me to the corporate style of living, punctuality and discipline. My work enabled the Chinese to access the internet in a better manner, enabling them to get much more information regarding this subject. The people around me were impacted by my style of working and were very impressed by the reports and presentations submitted to them. It also helped me make a huge network.

PARENT S EXPERIENCEs An AIESEC Delhi IIT Delhi Parent, Mr S.K Sharma Vice President Sales- Cream Bell, Devyani Foods There are open doors for innovation and the organization is filled with youngsters who are passionate to achieve heights in their life. Driven by highly motivated students all across the globe I am glad to have my daughter as a part of such a huge platform, which contributes to the overall development of an individual. The best part, which I personally find, is the immense knowledge which a student gains when he/she goes for an internship. My daughter has been to Mauritius for her Social Entrepreneurship experience through AIESEC and the change I see in her post the experience is huge. She has lived with people who belonged to different countries, cultures, possessed varied values, beliefs, had different thoughts, opinions, viewpoints and today it makes me proud to say that she can very confidentially interact with anyone from across the globe. An AIESEC Hyderabad Parent, Mr Madhu Sudhan Principal - Pragathi Vidyaniketan, Hyderabad We are very thankful to AIESEC, for giving such a wonderful opportunity to my daughter. The exposure she has gained from the Global Entrepreneurs Program has been fantastic. She has learnt a number of skills and has gained an international perspective. We agree that it s worth experiencing it. After returning from the internship, we could notice her behavioral changes like understanding situations and people, moving with patience, being positive etc. We are glad and we hope that AIESEC will give her many more opportunities like this, to improve her abilities and skills. We also hope that it helps her professional life by guiding her in decision-making and to improvise her career opportunities. ALUMNI I became a part of AIESEC in 2002 and took up various Leadership roles such as Vice President and President of a Local Committee. I decide to take a up an international internship because the world is rapidly becoming a global village and having seen the benefits that an AIESEC experience provided to our interns, I decided that an internship would be an ideal way in which to understand the global economic scenario. LEARNING The exposure that I had during my internship in Poland cannot be summed up in words. The work ethics and culture have been an eye opener to me. Each day brought with it something new to learn-the language, the culture, the economy, the people. However, my biggest learning would have to be to respect different cultures, different people for who they are and that would earn me their respect. IMPACT An AIESEC internship is the perfect way to understand and experience different cultures in one program. There were interns from 16 different countries in Poznan during my stay there and we became like family. It was here that I started to think about how we can transcend the physical boundaries with our human emotions. THE ALUMNI HALL OF FAME PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT Very few people get an opportunity to interact with people from all walks of life. Only in AIESEC did I get an opportunity to interact with my peers, my seniors, people whom I have looked up to in business and also people from so many different nationalities. My experiences have made me a more focused and determined individual but it has also given me the courage to admit mistakes and seek advice from people who are more knowledgeable than me. Although one s personality is an intangible asset, I believe it is also one s most valuable asset and that is what an AIESEC experience develops in people. CAREER DEVELOPMENT The most difficult task of being an entrepreneur and businessman is to handle people. More often than not I have to deal with people who are either far more senior and more experienced than myself or are from a different cultural background. The ethics and values that I have seen in my internship have helped me shape my business into a more people friendly environment. I find it far easier to negotiate and communicate with people due to the practical exposure that I had in my AIESEC career. My internship has given me an understanding into the global thought process and has enabled me to use these in the Indian environment. Varun Mimami CEO, Allied Wired Pvt Ltd Being culturally sensitive, AIESEC has helped her build contacts almost everywhere in the world, which has certainly made her more aware and knowledgeable. The internships give you an experience, which can never be forgotten. I am impressed by the way students working in AIESEC communicate with the professionals in corporates. They have their own charisma where in they smartly walk in, talk to you, get sponsorships, do activities which are telecasted live and lots more which cannot be put into words. All I can say is that it s a really pleasant feeling to see your child growing at such a pace and talking to you about things, which you might have never even heard of.
