Our Masters Students Adil Amin Master of Power System From: Pakistan Maizatul Akmal Abdul Muttlib Master of Biomedical From: Malaysia Mageswaran Murugiya Master of Safety, Health & Environment From: Malaysia engineering@um is one of the most prestigious and ranked one of the world s top engineering schools. The Electrical (Power System) Masters programme fulfils the current needs of the industrial market and the research laboratories are well equipped with modern instruments. The interaction with experienced academics was interactive and valuable. UM provides the perfect learning environment with its equally focused co-curricular activities and multicultural environment. Living away from home was really challenging but with the support of international communities here at UM has transformed this challenge to an opportunity where one can interact with the people of different nationalities and can share their culture. After finishing my studies I would like to become an academician, thanks to the wonderful memories at UM. I graduated from UM and am currently working as a Biomedical Engineer at the National Heart Institute (IJN) and pursuing my Master Degree (Coursework) in Biomedical. I decided to pursue a Masters as I wanted to challenge myself to go beyond the limit and pursue my passion. UM is known both locally and internationally for its academic reputation as a top leading university and the strategic location of UM makes it an ideal place to study. The academicians are very dedicated, experienced and their two-way communication allows students to work collaboratively with lecturers. The weekend classes is ideal for a working adult like myself. The knowledge, skills and qualities that I have gained and developed throughout the course are very beneficial to my career in so many aspects especially in terms of critical thinking, analytical ability and time management skills. These value added factors will put me in line for growth opportunities within my organisation. Finally, UM has top-notch facilities such as various fully equipped labs for research works, university and faculty libraries, sports arena, dedicated examination building, shuttles and residential colleges that creates such a conducive and enjoyable environment for learning. I studied Biosystems locally and worked as an engineer for 1 year. I changed my career path to become a Physics teacher in private school recently. This transformation from a technical degree to an education path is because I want to pursue my ambition to become a lecturer. UM is my first choice for postgraduate studies because of the weekend classes for postgrad studies, experienced lecturers, excellent curriculum and the active sharing of knowledge amongst the postgrad students. I found the program to be extremely beneficial especially in terms of auditing of safety, analytical skills to think out of the box and more importantly to apply the knowledge of what I learnt at my current workplace.

Our Masters Students Lydia Chew Wan Ling Master of Mechanical From: Malaysia Asem M K Abdalhadi Master of Mechatronics From: Palestine Rajeshree a/p Vejasegaran Master of Telecommunications From: Malaysia I m working as Mechanical Design for a consumer electronics company. My first choice was UM because it was strategically located and the Masters programme is taught during weekends. There were a lot of diversity of students which enhanced the ideas exchanged between students through our learning interactions. With this Masters, I could appreciate the theories involved in engineering tools used in industry and was able to apply what I learnt to solve industry problems. In addition, the Masters instilled in me effective communication (due to our presentations), time management skills and more importantly equipped me with the essential knowledge and experience for a rewarding career. UM was my first choice because it the best university in Malaysia with high rankings internationally, the tuition fees are reasonable and it takes only 4 years to complete my degree. The course is taught entirely in English (which is definitely advantageous for an international student like me) and I ve made many friends of diverse cultures in Malaysia and also international students. The experiences shared by the lecturers and the sharing of knowledge with my fellow classmates has enabled me to understand the subjects better. The exceptional rankings of UM has enabled has added credentials to my Masters degree. After completing my Bachelor degree in Communication, I wanted to do continue my postgraduate study at UM because of two reasons: its strategic location and I wanted to be part of an esteemed university that provides excellent quality education and resea rch that are industry centric. The taught based courses exposed me to a wide range of topics and are delivered by highly credible lecturers who focuses on real world applications. Through continuous assessments and case studies, I was able to enhance my analytical skills and soft skills as well. In addition, the cultural diversity at UM gives me an opportunity to communicate and work as a team along with postgraduate students of different cultures and professional background, thus expanding my professonal network substantially.

Our Masters Students Farina Saffa Binti Mohamad Samsamnun Master of Telecommunications From: Malaysia I choose UM to pursue my master because UM is top university in Malaysia as it is my life time ambition to obtain a Masters degree from a prestigious and world renowned university. The presentations that we have to do for the postgraduate studies have made me very confident and it brings a whole new perspective to me. The subjects are taught in such a manner where it relates to many down to earth applications, thus we understand and grasp the concepts better. The programs are very comprehensive and well balanced and as a lecturer, I take this knowledge and share with my students too. The interaction with the international students are astounding as I have classmates from Yemen, Somalia, Iraq and China thus enabling us to understand the cultural diversities better. Said Jama Ali Master of Mechanical From: Somalia Malaysia has one of the best education systems and standards in the region and UM is the oldest and highest ranked university in Malaysia; and that is main reason I choose to study here. The extensive campus with green spaces, excellent facilities, well equipped lecture halls, large collection of books at the library makes it very effortless to study here. I have learnt a lot personally and professionally from the interaction with my classmates from various industries and that sharing process is incredible. The subjects taught is very practical and would definitely assist me in my working career. Hafiz Ishak Master of (Materials & Technology) From: Malaysia I completed my undergraduate degree in in Germany and I am currently working as an engineer at company that manufactures contact lenses. I choose UM because of it is the number one ranked university and the most prestigious of the public universities. With a UM Masters, I definitely have an edge over the rest in terms of future prospects. The course has enabled me to apply the knowledge learnt in my work, i.e. having a good grasp of the materials characteristics has helped me to choose the optimal material for specific applications, which improves yield. The professors are experts in their fields and most had work experience with industry which enabled them to incorporate industry examples in their lecturers. The small class size enables better interaction with students. My fellow students are another reason why I enjoyed my time at UM. Since most of them are working in different industries, I benefitted through the sharing of experiences and sharing of knowledge through our study groups.
