Goal Statement 1: To develop and implement universal benchmarking assessments for all core subject areas. 1. To develop common understandings about the scope and sequence for core courses taught in the following departments: ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. 1. Teachers will continue to develop curriculum maps, with course scope and sequence, for core courses taught in their departments. For example, new Common Core Standards in Science. 2. Upon completion of the curriculum maps, with course scope and sequence, teachers will collaborate to align horizontally. 1. Individual Teachers of Identified Courses; Building Principal; and Director of Curriculum and Instruction 1. Initial is May 24, Follow-Up Dates TBD Completed May, 24 with the exception of modified mapping due to new Common Core implementation. 2. To develop two universal benchmarking assessments for all Core Area courses. 1. Teachers will develop benchmarking assessments. 2. 3. To revise benchmarking assessments as needed for use in 2017-18. 1. Departments will complete test item analyses throughout the year and will decide upon needed revisions. Goal Statement 2: To analyze data from state assessments taken over the last 3-5 years and develop vocabulary acquisition, inferencing, reading comprehension, and writing strategies to be implemented throughout the ELA curricula at Plattsburgh High School. 1. To complete test item analyses from the benchmark exams taken during the year -2017 to identify areas of deficiency with regards to teaching and learning of content. 1. Grade Level / Department members will meet to review test item analyses from the benchmark assessment exams. 2. Grade Level / Department members will identify areas of concern that relate to vocabulary acquisition, inferencing, reading comprehension, and writing strategies. Goal Statement 3: To analyze current and past (last decade) offerings at Stafford Middle School and develop proactive approaches to addressing the social and emotional of all students at the school. 1. To assemble data on course, cocurricular, and extra-curricular offerings for students at SMS over the past decade. 2. To identify the social and emotional needs of current and future students at SMS. 1. Tables will be created to show in graphic form the offerings available to students at PHS over the last ten years. 1. Create and administer a student survey. 2.
