Collins Hill High School Student Government Association Application for Membership 2015-2016 Students who would like to be a member of the Collins Hill SGA must turn in a typed application and 3 faculty recommendations with at least 2 (two) current ACADEMIC teachers. (You will need to print off the recommendation page for these teachers and fill out the top portion prior to giving it to them) This application and the recommendations will be reviewed by the current executive council and faculty advisors. Once the review process is complete and all candidates approved with regards to the bylaws of SGA you will be contacted about the election process. The Collins Hill High School Student Government Association will be composed of no more than 60 student representatives; a possible fifteen students from each grade level. Ten grade level members are elected by a plurality vote of the students currently in that grade level and an additional five appointed members are chosen by the executive council. Executive officers of the Collins Hill Student Government Association are selected from the elected representatives by that same body. The purpose of the Collins Hill High School Student Government Association is: To serve as student leaders by promoting the advancement and welfare of the members of the Collins Hill High School Student body. To serve as a liaison between the student body and faculty of CHHS To serve as a liaison between the student body and the Collins Hill community at large Students elected to leadership positions by their peers take on significant responsibilities. Please consider carefully the following requirements of all elected student government members before making a decision to run. 1. All members must be available for and in attendance at regularly scheduled meetings that occur after school ending usually around 3pm. If you are involved in sports/other clubs, etc., you will need to make arrangements with sponsors/coaches to be late to these activities on meeting days. 2. All representatives must have and maintain a 3.0 overall GPA, have 5 or less absences from school, and no more than a total of 5 tardies. All representatives should have a clear discipline record. 3. Attendance at all meetings and functions is mandatory. Excessive absences will be the cause for dismissal from SGA. 4. All elected members must fulfill their responsibilities of their specific offices as outlined in the SGA constitution. Lack of commitment in these areas will be cause for a review of the member s current status and possible grounds for dismissal. Members of the Student Government Association represent the student body within the school and in the larger community.
