Since 1993, NPR s flagship sports show has gone beyond the box scores to tell stories about athletes that come in every shape, size, and ability, giving listeners a weekly hour of the human side of sports and competition. Littlefield will be on hand to discuss the show, as well as his most recent book, Take Me Out, a collection of sportsand games-related verse. Led by Barbara Hayes Buell, JD, MPH, this seminar series will focus on the interplay between health care and the law as it affects individuals and families. Buell, who practices primarily in the field of health care, will cover a range of topics of interest to seniors, including housing options, mental health issues, and decision-making via health care proxies and guardianships. This seminar series also includes a primer on medical malpractice and quality control with the Board of Registration. $50

Led by Asbed Kotchikian, who earned his PhD in political science at BU in 2006 and is a senior lecturer in global studies at Bentley University, these seminars will provide a historical snapshot of late Soviet years as well as chart the paths of socio-political developments in those countries over the past 25 years. Discussion topics include the rise of (semi)authoritarian regimes, ethnic conflicts, and the future prospects of these countries in the international political order. $40 America in the World: Ideology and Presidential Power in U.S. Foreign Relations, with Michael Holm Tuesdays, October 17 & 31, November 7 & 14 1 2:30 p.m. GSU Conference Auditorium 775 Commonwealth Ave., 2 nd Floor Presented by Michael Holm, a historian and lecturer in BU s College of General Studies, this seminar series explores the fundamental ideas and myths of American foreign policy.
