Going Global: Digital Marketing Tips for International Student Recruitment By Melissa Rekos Carnegie Communications Carnegie recently held its first digital workshop outside of the US and conducted a webinar on International Digital Marketing. Reflecting on the conversations that took place and the evolution of global student recruitment, here are some great takeaways. First: It s so important to keep in mind that these prospective students think more globally than ever. They feel more connected to their own peers in another country than other generations in their own. There are many ways we can leverage this in our recruitment. Many digital strategies allow the opportunity to showcase the experience you offer through the eyes of your international students on campus. Be authentic and let them showcase their reasons for choosing you and their experiences there. Second: Most of the tactics available to you here in the US to reach students are also available in most other countries. There are a few exceptions such as IP Targeting, but the dominant other tactics are still at your fingertips! Student Organizations and Athletics: Best practices for managing hazing and risky behaviors The recent events on a university campus, with the tragic death of a student and the resulting 850 counts of criminal charges against a fraternity and its members, have once again brought student organizational misconduct issues to the forefront. Risky alcohol use, hazing, and other behavioral issues are not endemic to Greek organizations; they also are found within other student organizations, athletic teams, and even within residence halls. Please join the attorneys from Bricker & Eckler LLP for a workshop on addressing the risk management and legal issues surrounding student conduct, student organizational and athletic team culture and behavior. This half-day session will include current best practices in addressing student organizations, avoiding litigation and loss, and developing a culture of compliance on campus. This highly interactive program will include a panel discussion including colleagues from AICUO institutions who have addressed these issues on a campus-wide basis.
