Department of Chemistry of Kings College of Engineering organised one day National Seminar on Recent Trends in Smart Materials (NSSM- 2014) in association with Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi on 17 th April 2014. Dr.M.Veerabhadra Swamy, Professor, Department of Chemistry, PES University, Bangalore inaugurated the Seminar and delivered inaugural address. Dr. S. Durairaj, Principal, Kings College of Engineering preside over the function and Dr. J. Arputha Vijaya Selvi, Dean (R&D) Kings College of Engineering felicitates. The convener of the Seminar Dr.V.Suresh Kumar, Head,department of Chemistry welcome the gathering and the co convener Dr.S.Udayakumar, Asst.Prof. GIII introduce the guests. The Hard copy of the seminar proceedings was released by Dr.A.Subramania, Associate Professor Department of Nanoscience and Technology, Pondicherry University, Pudhucherry and received by the Dean (R&D). The Soft copy of the proceeding was released by Dr.S.Asath Bahadur, Professor,Department of Physics, Kalasaligam University, Krishnankovil and received by Dr.M.Veera Bhadra Swamy, Professor, Department of Chemistry, PES University, Bangalore. In Forenoon session Dr.M.Veera Bhadra Swamy, Professor, Department of Chemistry, PES University, Bangalore delivered lecture on Recent Trends in Smart Materials and Dr.A.subramania, Associate Professor Department of Nanoscience and Technology, Pondicherry University, Pudhucherry delivered lecture on Nano Science and Technology A Birds View. In After Noon Session Dr.S.Asath Bahadur, Professor,Department of Physics, Kalasaligam University, Krishnankovil delivered lecture on Non-Linear Optical Materials for OPTO Electronics Applications and Dr.M.Kottaisamy, Professor, department of Chemistry, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai delivered lecture on Nano Technology for energy and Environmental Applications. Various research papers were presented in Technical session I and II, Dr.M.Veerabhadra Swamy and Dr.A.Subramania were act as a chair persons for technical Session I and Dr.M.Kottai Swamy and Dr. S.Asath Bhadur act as chair persons for technical Session II. Two best papers were selected and awarded. Dr.M.Kottaisamy, Professor, Department of Chemistry, Thaigarajar College of Engineering, Madurai delivered the valedictory address and issued the certificates to the participants Mrs.S.R.Kalaivani Asst.Prof. GII, Department of Chemistry, Kings College of Engineering delivered the vote of thanks.
