MA in MinistrY LANCASTER BIBLE COLLEGE MISSION Lancaster Bible College exists to educate Christian students to think and live a biblical worldview and to proclaim Christ by serving him in the Church and society. ABOUT THE INSTITUTION Lancaster Bible College offers a full range of collegiate programming, from noncredit biblical enrichment to undergraduate, master s, and doctoral degree programs. Since 1933, the college s Bible-centered education has helped students follow God s plan for their personal and professional lives. Studies take place in a caring environment that integrates biblical teaching across a culturally diverse curriculum. Its faculty bring a wealth of academic credentials and real-world experience to each class. LBC s International Leadership, Education and Discipleship (ilead) Center offers biblically-based graduate education and non-degree learning opportunities. The ilead Center s regionally-accredited graduate degree programs equip students for Christian leadership in an ever-changing world. ACCREDITATION LBC is an accredited, nondenominational institution, which offers undergraduate, graduate, and non-traditional education. The institution is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA). LBC is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). Graduates from the MEd programs receive state certification from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. LBC also has affiliate status with the Council for Christian College & Universities (CCCU). Lancaster Bible College is also approved by the U.S. Department of Justice for the training of nonimmigrant international students. MASTER OF ARTS IN MINISTRY The Master of Arts in Ministry (MAM) program prepares students for biblical servant leadership in church and church-related ministries. Through contemporary biblical and theological scholarship, this professional ministry training enables students to pursue their unique calling. Graduates of this degree program: Have a character consistent with biblical servant leadership Serve God and humanity through the use of essential communication, leadership and management skills Are committed to the core beliefs and values of the Christian faith 3

Adult Ministries PROGRAM DELIVERY The MAM enables qualified applicants to complete coursework for any of the program s concentrations in as little as two academic semesters (September May) without having to relocate for study. This focused pace is achieved through: The learning cohort approach. A learning cohort, consisting of no more than 18 students, will participate in a blend of online and on-campus coursework. This approach provides the flexibility to pursue a degree from anywhere while learning in a supportive environment with the same group of students. Advanced standing for Bible college graduates. LBC s ilead Center gives advanced standing to graduates of LBC and other Bible colleges for 12 hours in Bible and theology. This leaves only 12 program courses (36 credit hours) required to complete the Fast Track sequence. One and two year options. Although the course delivery allows you to complete your degree in one year, you also have the flexibility to spread coursework out over a two-year period by taking one course listed in each session, along with summer term options. These scheduled requirements are listed in the Program Schedule area on page 6. Concentrated workload. Each course requires approximately seven to 10 hours of work and study per week. PROGRAM DESIGN Getting a graduate education doesn t require putting your life on hold. LBC understands that you have other commitments to God, family, and work. That s why the MAM program is designed for adult learners who are employed full-time. The ilead Center offers convenient and flexible scheduling options to accommodate prior commitments while you continue your education. PROGRAM OUTCOMES The MAM equips students for ministry in the church and society by developing: A foundational knowledge of the narrative, content, and interpretation of the Bible for the purposes of spiritual formation and the development of a biblical worldview A biblical philosophy of ministry and leadership applicable to contemporary culture The character and competencies necessary to be an authentic servant leader The knowledge and skill sets necessary to lead individuals, teams, and organizations The skill sets necessary for assessing organizational health and strategizing plans for development The learning and research skills necessary for maintaining lifelong education The knowledge and skill sets appropriate for the selected concentration 4

MA in MinistrY ADULT MINISTRIES CONCENTRATION Over the past two decades adult education has gained renewed interest and continues to be one of the largest components of the American educational enterprise. Often local church professionals in associate pastoral roles come to their positions with limited background in adult education, but have responsibilities for adult Sunday school, small groups, marriage & family life ministry, outreach, ministry equipping, and other parts of adult ministry. The faculty in the Adult Ministries concentration embraces the Christian education of adult learners from a biblical worldview and trains people to serve adult learners within the local church and society. The purpose of this concentration is to equip people with the knowledge and skill sets to direct adult ministry strategies within the local church. The objectives of the Adult Ministries concentration are: Developing adult ministry leaders Defining a biblical basis for adult ministries within the church Detailing the developmental factors of adults learners Designing effective discipleship strategies for adults in the church 2011 12 PROGRAM SCHEDULE SESSION ONE MIN 505 ADM 501 SESSION TWO MIN 506 ADM 502 SESSION THREE MIN 504 ADM 503 SESSION FOUR MIN 510 ADM 504 Theological Foundations for Ministry Designing Strategic Models of Adult Discipleship Leadership Foundations for Ministry Issues in Adult Development and Learning Communicating Biblical Truth Biblical Found. and Models of Small Group Ministry The Leader s Life and Work Marriage and Family Ministry SESSION FIVE Independent Study ADM 505 Curriculum Design and Technology in Teaching SUMMER 2012 Elective Elective ONLINE ON CAMPUS ONLINE Aug 22 Sept 4 Aug 22 Sept 4 Oct 10 Oct 23 Oct 10 Oct 23 Dec 27 Jan 8 Dec 27 Jan 8 Feb 13 26 Feb 13 26 Apr 2 15 Apr 2 15 May 29 June 10 May 29 June 10 Sept 7 8 Sept 9 10 Oct 26 27 Oct 28 29 Jan 11 12 Jan 13 14 Feb 29 Mar 1 Mar 2 3 No Residency Apr 20 21 June 11 12 June 13 14 Sept 12 Oct 1 Sept 12 Oct 1 Oct 31 Nov 19 Oct 31 Nov 19 Jan 16 Feb 4 Jan 16 Feb 4 Mar 5 24 Mar 5 24 Apr 23 May 12 Apr 23 May 12 June 17 July 7 June 17 July 7 GRADUATE CERTIFICATE OPTION If you want a focused master s level education but do not want to pursue the entire MAM degree curriculum, you can earn a Graduate Certificate in any of the MAM concentrations by taking the four designated concentration courses offered in sessions one through four of the 2011 12 schedule.
