EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Parent Institution Shri Swami Vivekanand Shikshan Sanstha, Kolhapur was established in 1954 by a great educationist and foreseer, late Dr.Bapuji Salunkhe to open the door of education to the rural youth. His philosophy aimed at with the motto The Spread of Education for Knowledge, Scientific Attitude and Inculcation of Good Values has inspired thousands of students and teachers. For more than five decades the institution has been imparting knowledge and education through 369 branches, spread across fourteen major districts of Maharashtra namely Kolhapur, Sangali Satara, Pune and Raigad etc. There are a few branches even in Karnataka State. Late Dr.Bapuji a Vedic Scholar and a great admirer of Hindu Traditions based his educational philosophy on five principles namely Truth, Character, Honesty, Freedom from Exploitation, Sacrifice and Service. In the present scenario, with changing circumstances, the institution has adopted some progressive measures and has started schools and colleges with professional courses, so that our rural youth do not lag behind in this age of Science and Computer technology. Today the institution runs 369 Knowledge Centers, imparting education to the students in remote and tribal areas of Maharashtra. The institution runs Kindergartens, Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, Higher Secondary Schools, Senior Colleges, D.Ed, B,Ed, Law Colleges, Nursery, Engineering Colleges etc. The College - Samajbhushan Ganpatrao Kalbhor Arts, Commerce & Science College, Loni Kalbhor was established in June 1984, to open the door of higher education to the rural youths, especially boys & girls of the farmers and farmworkers of and around Loni kalbhor. Late Shri Ganpatrao Kalbhor alias Mama and late Dr.Bapuji Salunkhe, the founder of Shri Swami Vivekanand Shikshan Sanstha, Kolhapur, along with some wellwishers of the Society, took initiative to establish this college. Loni Kalbhor is an agricultural village situated on the bank of the river Mula-Mutha. Loni Kalbhor is on the outskirts of Pune, the so called Seat of Education. The young boys and girls cannot afford to go

to Pune for higher education. This college has availed the opportunity of higher education to these rural youths. Today our college is 28 years old and has created a distinct place in the minds of the citizens. The college has two faculties Arts and Commerce. The students of Arts Faculty can offer English, Marathi, Hindi, History, Politics and Economics as Special subject at degree level and the students of the Commerce can faculty offer Accountancy and Costing and Marketing as Special Subjects at degree level. In the past the college had Science faculty too. Unfortunately the Science faculty was closed due to the lack of the sufficient number of students. The college has well-equipped three storied building, a huge playground, a well tendered garden. The facilities for indoor and outdoor games are available in the college Gymkhana. The library has been enriched by the text books and reference books and other reading materials. The college has started Post Graduate Degree Programs M.Com in the academic year 2008.2009 and M.A. Economics since2012-2013. The college also runs a Study Center of Y.C.M.O.U, Nashik. The students can obtain B.A, B.Com & M.B.A Degrees through distance mode of learning. The college also runs a computer technology center of T.M.C. Mumbai. The college has been recently included in the list 2(f)/12(B) of the UGC. Our college imparts the quality education guided by the goals and objectives set by our mother institution. Our students have been successfully working in the various fields like teaching, police department, politics, business and industry etc. Some of our faculty members have been members of the university examination committees like Vigilance Committee, Examiners, Moderators, Paper Setters and so on. Some of them have written text books and others have been guides to research students. Some of Faculty members have registered their names for Ph.D and others have submitted Minor and Major projects to the B.C.U.D of University of Pune. One of our staff members has been elected as a member of Board of Studies of Business Management and Faculty member of Commerce Faculty of Pune university We are trying to shape the all round personality of our students through extra curricular activities and co-curricular activities. We are

trying to equip our students with necessary skills so that they will have bright future. In addition to this we make efforts to develop such habits and inculcate virtues as to help them become responsible citizens.
