Jadavpur University Kolkata 700032 Ph.D. (Arts) Admission July, 2017 IMPORTANT November 17, 2017 Provisional list of candidates selected for enrolment to the Ph.D programme under the Faculty of Arts (July, 2017) 1. The list is provisional and is subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria as notified earlier and verification of original documents as listed below. 2. All applicants must have completed results of MA or equivalent. 3. All applicants must have 2-Year MA or equivalent degree from any university/institute recognized by the UGC. 4. Applicants who have obtained an MA or equivalent degree of less than two (2) years duration, must have completed at least a total of five (5) years of undergraduate and post-graduate study in a recognized university/institute. 5. An applicant, even if provisionally selected as per the list below, shall not be considered for admission if at the time of verification of relevant documents it is found that, (i) s/he is already enrolled/registered in any other degree or equivalent course at Jadavpur University or in any other university/institute/college; a Declaration in this regard needs to be submitted at the time of registration in/admission to the Ph.D. programme; (ii) s/he is pursuing 2-Year M.Phil in the relevant subjects and/or has submitted M.Phil dissertations but either the viva-voce on her/his dissertation has not been conducted on or before October 30, 2017 or has failed in the viva-voce examination. 6. An M.Phil student of Jadavpur University with UGC Fellowship (NET- JRF/RGNF/Moulana Azad and the like), even if provisionally selected under Continuing Fellowship Holder category (supernumerary) as per the list below, shall NOT be considered for admission if at the time of verification of relevant documents it is found that s/he (i) has not successfully defended viva-voce examination on her/his M.Phil dissertation; (ii) (iii) (iv) does NOT have valid Continuing Fellowship has/had registered in any other university/institute after completing her/his M.Phil degrees at Jadavpur University; or is currently registered in any other course in Jadavpur University; has a gap period of more than one year between the date of publication of Final M.Phil result and the date of her/his registration/enrollment in the Ph.D. programme (as specified below).

7. As per circular Nos. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-1, D.O.12017/11/89- SCD(R.CELL) dt.09/01/1990 and letter No.1510-SCW dt.31/05/2007 from the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate for residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years issued by the competent authority. 8. A Candidate applying for seat reserved for the OBC-A / OBC-B category (wherever applicable) must produce an OBC certificate (the issues date of which should not be earlier than July 2016) issued by the competent authority that clearly indicates (i) the category (A or B) he/she belongs to: (ii) that he/she does not belong to creamy layer of the society. Without submission of such an appropriate certificate, the applicant shall NOT be considered for seats reserved for OBC-A / OBC-B category. As per the rules of Government of West Bengal, the OBC-A and OBC-B candidates of the states other than West Bengal are not entitled to get the benefit of reserved quota in educational institutions in West Bengal unless they can produce Domicile Certificate as a proof for residing in West Bengal for at least 10 years issued by the competent authority. 9. Schedule for Payment of Registration Fees (At Cash Section, Aurobindo Building): Registration Fees (as mentioned hereunder) must be paid (in full or the first installment) during 27/11/2017 to 29/11/2017 AFTER verification/ submission of all documents as mentioned above. a) For Full-time Registered Scholars of Jadavpur University: Rs. 14,000/-. (b) For Registered Scholars of Jadavpur University who are in full/part time employment anywhere/elsewhere or are registered through affiliated institutes: Rs.22,000/- The fee must be paid either in full or in three installments as follows: Rs 5000/- for (a) and Rs. 8000/- for (b) at the time of registering to the Ph.D. (Arts) programme; Rs 5000/- for (a) and Rs. 8000/- for (b) within six months from the date of first installment is paid; and Rs 4000/- for (a) and Rs.6000/- for (b) within one-year from the date of first installment is paid. (c) For foreign students USD 500.00; for Foreign students from Developing Countries: USD 250.00 or US Dollar equivalent of INR 22,000.00 whichever is higher. Besides, there are other fees as specified below: Registration Fee: $500, Course Work fee: $ 1500, Submission fees: $ 1500, Re-submission fees: $ 500 (if applicable), Adjudication fee: $ 500 (if applicable) And Annual Session fee: $700. The above fees structure are applicable to the students of developed countries only and the students from developing/ low-income/ low-middle income countries as specified by UNO and as applicable at the time of admission /registration/enrollment will have to pay the 50% of all type of fees. IF DOCUMENTS ARE NOT VERIFIED DURING 27/11/2017 to 29/11/2017, AND REGISTRATION FEES ARE NOT PAID DURING 27/11/2017 to 29/11/2017, THE PROVISIONAL OFFER FOR ADMISSION TO THE PH.D. (ARTS) PROGRAMME SHALL STAND CANCELLED.

11. Orientation: 01/12/2017 (at respective Departments) The Registered Scholars (having paid the Registration Fees during the above mentioned dates) must report to the Head of the Department concerned at 11 am on December 1, 2017, for orientation. Ph.D. Course-work offered by respective departments shall commence on and from December 1, 2017. 11.
