«stay small but perform with distinction» WELCOME MESSAGE Neuroendocrine Tumors: A Comprehensive Course to Guide the Diagnosis and Management This course is designed as an educational tool as well as a practical manual for the diagnosis of patients with suspected neuroendocrine tumors and a variety of associated disorders, guiding the physician to long-term follow-up. Conceptually, this course is more than a list of lectures. It provides a step-by-step approach to diagnosis, to appropriate and dynamic challenge tests and to contemporary more efficient therapeutic management. The accretion of knowledge and its particular applications in the workshops have highly placed this course from theory to the forefront of medical practice. We have witnessed the phenomenon over the years of the transformation of research-oriented procedures becoming useful, routine, and critical determining factors in the diagnosis and management of certain neuroendocrine tumors and related endocrinopathies. Clinical and laboratory discipline is a dynamic science, and it must be assisted by ensuing talented scientists in the specific disciplines it serves. Consequently, a debt of gratitude is owed to each one of the distinguished tutors and speakers, who are embarking on their scientific topics and are serving our ultimate targets, education and clinical practice! Therefore, from heart thanks to their synergistic confluence that has given birth to this unique interactive course with my true appreciation to our financial supporters who have helped it to make steady steps forward Undoubtedly, my high esteem is owed to each member of the organizing committee who has provided tirelessly their input on every step of the efforts to achieve and maintain high scientific and social standards of the course. Thus, we have arrived at 2 nd COMBO with a certain degree of pride, but with a greater degree of responsibility to every participant, whose presence in this course consolidates our commitment and dedication to teach and practice evidence based medicine! Yours Evanthia Diamanti-Kandarakis, MD, PhD President of the Course, Professor of Medicine-Endocrinology & Metabolism Medical School of Athens, Greece 3

The proximity to the Holy Annunciation Monastery complements the natural environment with another spiritual environment, the Orthodox Tradition. The Monastery of Evangelistria, built in the 12th Century A.D. and renovated in 1656, played a historical role during the Ottoman period and World War II, by offering its Crypt, accessed right under the Holy Altar. Since 1959, Evangelistria has been a women s monastery and hosts a textile workshop. Surrounded by a landscape of unique natural beauty, it offers a magnificent view of the area downhill. There is a large lecture hall and designated areas for group work during workshops. Language: The official language of the Course is English.
