Memo, Your attention is invited to this Directorate letter No.EDN- HE(21)A(3)33/2013-V-Vol-II dated 11-07-2013 vide which you were directed to issue necessary instructions to all field functionaries under your control to adopt the passing criteria for non-board classes i.e. 9 th & 11 th classes as per the set norms adopted by H.P. Board for Matriculation & Plus two classes. In this regard, you are once again directed to issue necessary instructions to all field functionaries under your control to adopt the passing criteria for 9 th & 11 th classes as adopted by the H.P. Board for 10 th & 12 th classes. The copy of passing criteria for Matriculation and Plus two classes adopted by H.P. Board is also enclosed herewith for further circulation to all field functionaries under your control. HIMACHAL PRADESH BOARD OF SCHOOL EDUCATION DHARAMSHALA PASSING CRITERIA FOR MATRICULATION EXAMINATION MARCH 2013 The result of Matriculation Examination will be furnished in terms of marks for each subject secured in the examination. 1. In order to pass the examination a candidate appearing in regular capacity will be required to obtain at least 33% marks both in external examination and aggregate of a subject combined with internal assessment in English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science & Technology and Social Science (Group-I) each and any one of remaining Two subjects (G-II) of scheme of studies i.e. a) Regional Languages, b) One Elective Subject. For subjects involving practical/ project work, a candidate must obtain at least 33% marks in theory and practical separately in order to qualify that subject. The candidates appearing in private capacity will be required to obtain at least 33% marks in theory and practical separately. 2. In order to pass the examination a Mentally Retarded candidate appearing in regular capacity will be required to obtain at least 25% marks both in external examination and aggregate of a subject combined with internal assessment in four subjects of Compulsory Group from amongst English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science & Technology and Social Science (Group-I) each and any one of remaining Two subjects (Group-II) of scheme of studies i.e. a) Regional Languages, b) One Elective subject. In respect of subjects involving practical project work, a mentally retarded candidate must obtain at least 25% marks in theory and practical separately in order to qualify that subject. The mentally retarded candidates appearing in private capacity will be required to obtain at least 25% marks in theory and practical separately. 3. The marks of failure subject will not be included in the aggregate. 4. If a candidate fails in external examination of one or more subjects and the total deficiency is not more than 1% of total marks, he/she shall be accorded these marks to make up the deficiency both in external examination as well as in aggregate of a subject combined with Internal Assessment (i.e. without awarding any grace marks in INA) without regard to the number of subjects. In case the percentage of grace marks is increased to more than 1% of total marks as per the provisions of Regulation 11.17.2 of H.P. Board of School Education Examination Regulations 1994, the candidate shall be accorded these increased grace marks in the manner laid down by the Chairman. If by the addition of these, he/ she obtain the pass marks, he/she shall be declared to have passed the examination. 5. A candidate appearing in the additional subject(s) or compartmental subject or English only or qualifying subjects shall also be eligible for the above concession, but the limit of grace marks shall be up to 1% of the total marks of the subject(s) in which he/she appears. 6. A candidate shall be given 1% of the aggregate marks as grace marks to improve the division. However, a candidate who has already availed of the grace marks for passing the examination or any part thereof or a candidate who appears for compartmental examination or for Improvement of Performance, shall not be entitled to any grace marks for improving the division.
7. If a candidate passes in four compulsory subjects of Group-I and any two subjects of Group-II, shall be given compartment in one compulsory subject under Group-I in which he/she has failed absented. In respect of mentally retarded candidates, the candidate who passes three compulsory subjects of Group-I and any two subject of Group-II shall be given compartment in one compulsory subject under Group-I in which he/she has failed absented. OR If a candidate passes in all the required compulsory subjects mentioned above of Group-I and fails in two subjects of Group-II, the candidate shall be given compartment only in that subject in which he/she obtains higher marks. In case a candidate passes in all the compulsory subjects of Group-I and fails in both the remaining subjects of Group-II after having obtained equal marks or absents himself/ herself in both the subjects of Group-II, in such an event the result of the candidate shall be declared as RESULT DISPUTED and thereafter, the candidate shall be asked his/her choice of subject in which he/she would like to appear out of any of the two subjects in which he/she has failed/absented and the subject so opted by him /her shall be determined as his/ her compartment subject and the result be declared accordingly. The candidate shall have the choice to appear in one subject out of any of the two subjects in which he/ she has failed or absented. 8. The successful candidate of Matriculation Examination shall be classified as under:- i) Distinction in Subject(s) Those who secure 75% or more marks in the subject(s). ii) First Division Those who secure 60% or more of the aggregate marks. iii) Second Division Those who secure 50% or more Marks but less than 60% marks of the aggregate. iv) Third Division Those who secure below 50% marks of the aggregate. HIMACHAL PRADESH BOARD OF SCHOOL EDUCATION DHARAMSHALA PASSING CRITERIA FOR PLUS ONE AND TWO EXAM MARCH 2009 The result of Senior Secondary Certificate 10+1 & 10+2 examinations will be furnished in terms of marks for each subject secured in the examination. The Marks of other subject(s) as additional subject(s) will also be shown on the marks sheet. 1. Each candidate will be required to obtain at least 33% marks both in external examination and aggregated of a subject combined with internal assessment in English and each of four Elective subjects to pass the examination. 2. For subjects involving practical /Project work, a candidate must obtain at least 33% marks in theory and practical/project work separately in order to qualify the subject. 3. Marks of Additional subject i.e. 6 th and 7 th subject(s) if offered by the candidate will not be taken into account in the total. 4. A candidate fails /absents in English or one of the four elective subject offered by him/her shall be placed under compartment. 5. If a candidate fails in external examination of one or more subjects and the total deficiency is not more than 1% of total marks, he /she shall be accorded these marks to make up the deficiency both in external examination and all aggregate of a subject combined with Internal Assessment (i.e. without awarding any grace marks in INA) without regard to the number of subject. An elective subject offered as an additional subject can be substituted for another elective subject if, the candidate fails in one of the main elective offered by him but passes in the additional elective subject offered. 9. If a candidate fails in two elective subjects but had offered one additional elective subject and passed in it, the additional subject in which the candidate has passed can be substituted for one of the subject(s) in which the candidate had failed (the one in which he/she had scored less marks) and the candidate can be declared eligible for compartmental examination in the other subject in which the candidate had failed. 10. If a candidate fails in two elective subjects but had offered two additional subjects and passed in both of them these subjects can be substituted for the subjects in which the candidate had failed. 11. If a candidate fails in one elective subject but had offered two additional subjects and passed in both, the additional subject in which the candidate had scored higher marks can be substituted for one of the elective subject in which the candidate had failed. In case of the candidate having scored equal marks in both subjects, the opinion of the candidate for substitution may be obtained and till such time, the result may be declared as Result Late.
12. In Science group, substitution only in Biology and Mathematics and vice versa is allowed while in Commerce group, substitution only of Economics with Mathematics and vice versa is allowed. There shall be no substitution in Vocational group. 13. The successful candidates of Senior Secondary Certificate of Plus One and Plus Two Examination shall be classified as under:- i) Distinction in subject(s) Those who secure 75% or more marks in the subject(s) ii) First Division Those who obtain 60% or more of the aggregate marks iii) Second Division Those who get 50% or more marks but less than 60% marks of the aggregate. iv) Third Division Those who gain below 50% of the aggregate marks.
