ROSETTA STONE PRODUCT OVERVIEW Method Rosetta Stone teaches languages using a fully-interactive immersion process that requires the student to indicate comprehension of the new language and provides immediate feedback. This unique Dynamic Immersion combines proven teaching methods with breakthrough technology to replicate the natural process of learning a first language. We call the Rosetta Stone learning experience Dynamic Immersion because students use five dynamic strategies to accelerate language learning: images, intuition, interactivity, instruction, and the immersion environment itself. From childhood on, we each connect the meaning of language to the world around us. Real- life people, things and situations provide the meaning for the words we use. By using multimedia technology to present the voices of native speakers, text, and vivid, reallife photographs, Rosetta Stone uses the student s intuitive language-learning ability to acquire a new language. To ensure effective learning, Rosetta Stone uses the following language acquisition strategies: The meaning for all language content is directly conveyed by real-life images, actions and events, without memorization or use of native-language translation. New vocabulary is introduced in the context of useful phrases and everyday situations. Previously learned language is regularly reinforced. Grammar is learned inductively through the acquisition of new language in grammatically correct phrases and sentences. At every step of the process, students are required to demonstrate mastery of language content in order to proceed. Throughout the program, Rosetta Stone develops critical thinking and problem-solving skills essential for real-life communication. The meaning of new words and phrases is communicated through voice, text and pictures as well as previously learned material. Based on these visual and linguistic clues, students understand new meaning in a systematic structure that builds from the very beginning of a new language through everyday proficiency. In this way, the student acquires new vocabulary and language structures the same way they learned their native language. Content Rosetta Stone Classroom Version 3 delivers enhanced language-learning content and provides robust management tools via an intuitive user interface. Rosetta Stone Classroom Version 3 is available in three levels for all 25 languages (five levels are available for Italian, French, German, Spanish (Latin America and Spain), and English US) and delivers content focused on the four key areas of language learning: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Constant feedback and continuous reinforcement keeps students excited and engaged as they build proficiency in all four language skills by systematically working through the program s interactive lessons. 05/30/13
