Research There is an optional year-long research experience intended to help interns learn to integrate research into their chosen career path in an appropriate way. There are three general requirements for each intern as part of this plan: To be familiar with the ethical conduct of research and basic principles of human subjects protection. (There are a variety of options for meeting this requirement.) To be able to critically examine the research literature and apply findings to their work (clinical, teaching, or research), as appropriate. These readings are identified in conjunction with a mentor. Present dissertation or other research as one of the Didactic Seminars 17

Research (cont.) The rest of the individualized research experience may include a variety of activities, as determined by intern interest. This may include, but are not limited to: participation in monthly research meetings with faculty, involvement in an ongoing faculty research project, or conduct of a small intern-initiated research project. The focus is on integrating research and clinical practice, and may also include quality improvement research (1 half day per week is allotted for this experience). 18

Diversity CMH is an Equal Opportunity Employer We strive to recruit intern classes that represent diverse groups in multiple forms (e.g. race, ethnicity, gender, age, disability, sexual orientation). Didactic experiences in diversity issues are provided. CMH serves a very diverse population, providing the interns with multiple clinical opportunities to work with families from numerous ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. CMH serves patients from 90 different counties including rural and urban families. 19

2013 Best U.S.Cities for Affordable Getaways No. 1 Kansas City, Mo. It s one of the few cities where hotel prices have stayed the same or even dropped in the past year (the average summer rate is $137, according to Kayak). Sightseeing also remains a great value: you ll get in free at three of Kansas City s main art museums, as well as two fun factory-style tours (the Hallmark Visitors Center and the Boulevard Brewing Company). The savings continue at dinnertime. KC won the survey for its budget-minded slow-smoked barbecue: a classic burnt ends sandwich at Danny Edwards Boulevard BBQ is just $5.99. 31
