The Preparatory Course for ACCA - Diploma in Accounting and Business via FIA is awarded on the completion of the exams for Accounting in Business (FAB), Management Accounting (FMA), Financial Accounting (FFA). The Preparatory Course for ACCA - Diploma in Accounting and Business is broadly equivalent to HND level/equivalent to the first year of a degree. Who Should Study? The Preparatory Course for ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business via FIA is suitable for those aspiring to work or already working in the following types of roles: basic bookkeeping trainee accountant in a commercial organization or accounting practice accounts clerk in public sector Course Modules Aims and objectives FAB paper - Accountant in Business To introduce knowledge and understanding of the business and its environment and the influence this has on how organisations are structured and on the role of the accounting and other key business functions in contributing to the efficient, effective and ethical management and development of an organisation and its people and systems. FMA paper - Management Accounting To develop knowledge and understanding of providing basic management information in an organisation to support management in planning and decision making. FFA paper - Financial Accounting To develop knowledge and understanding of the underlying principles and concepts relating to financial accounting and technical proficiency in the use of double-entry accounting techniques including the preparation of basic financial statements. Course Duration Intakes For June examination: January, February and May annually For December examination: July, August and November annually For details, visit www.lsbf.edu.sg/fia-course-schedule Entry Requirements The Preparatory Course for ACCA - Diploma in Accounting and Business offers various entry points, allowing maximum flexibility for prospective students to select the most appropriate entry route and progression to additional qualifications, based on their previous qualifications, experience and future career aspirations. The three modules included within the Preparatory Course for ACCA - Diploma in Accounting and Business (FAB, FMA and FFA) are exactly the same as exams F1, F2 and F3 of the ACCA Qualification and share identical syllabuses, study guides and assessment methods. Route 1: No formal academic qualifications Students with no formal academic qualifications can register to take exams at any level within FIA. They must be 16 years old and above. Route 2: Meeting the minimum entry requirements for the ACCA qualification Students who have three (3) years of relevant work experience may study for the Preparatory Course for ACCA - Diploma in Accounting and Business as part of the ACCA qualification. Students who choose this route will need a minimum of three GCE O Level and two GCE A Levels in five separate subjects including Maths and English or their equivalent. Progression to ACCA Students who successfully complete the Preparatory Course for ACCA - Diploma in Accounting and Business are exempted from F1, F2, and F3 papers of ACCA qualification. Students may continue to study for papers under the Skill modules of the ACCA qualification. English Language The Preparatory Course for ACCA - Diploma in Accounting and Business classes are conducted in English. If you do not have: IELTS score of 5.5 and above TOEFL IBT score of 74 and above or its equivalent Proof of minimum 12 years of education with English as a medium of instruction You are encouraged to enrol for LSBF s English language programme before you embark on the Preparatory Course for ACCA - Diploma in Accounting and Business. International Students Studying in LSBF Before you begin your Preparatory Course for ACCA - Diploma in Accounting and Business study journey with LSBF in Singapore, you will need to be registered as an ACCA member. All international students are required to enrol a minimum of 3 papers each (FAB, FMA and FFA) for tuition and revision class per intake. Occasionally, there may also be a need to attend some evening and/or weekend sessions, especially nearing the FIA exams when courses become more intensive. Financial Assistance Skills Development Fund (SDF) Preparatory Course for ACCA Diploma in Accounting and Business is an approved course for funding under the SDF funding scheme. Under this initiative, students are eligible to apply for SDF grant* of up to 90% or $15 per training hour - whichever is lower for course fees. Fee Protection Under The Insurance Scheme (FPS Insurance Scheme) The Fee Protection Scheme (FPS) serves to protect students fees in the event a private education institution is unable to continue operation due to insolvency, and/ or regulatory closure. The FPS also protects students, if the private education institution fails to pay penalties or return fees to the students arising from judgment made against it by the Singapore courts. Medical Insurance LSBF has appointed AXA Insurance as the medical insurance provider. It is compulsory for all students to have medical insurance coverage for their hospitalisation and related medical treatments throughout their course duration. Singapore citizens, permanent citizens and international students (not on the Student Pass) and Students under corporate sponsorship or corporate agreement between the private education institution and their sponsor organisations can be exempted from the medical insurance scheme if they can show proof that they are already covered by their own medical insurance.
