New FIG Cmmissin 2 members Reprt f the XXV FIG Cngress in Kuala Lumpur, 16 21 f June 2014 Cmmissin 2 Annual Meeting On Tuesday 17 the FIG Cmmissin 2 Annual Meeting was held attended by 9 enthusiastic delegates and friends (including the chair and incming chair). Steven Frank presented his reprt f the last year. Incming chair thanked Steven fr his effrts fr FIG Cmmissin 2 in fr him difficult times. It was fr Steven prbably his last Annual Meeting as chair. The incming chair, Liza Grenendijk, presented her ideas fr the new term 2015 2018 and welcmed suggestins frm the audience. Technical Sessins (4) Cmmissin 2 Cmmissin 2 rganised fur technical sessins, TS01I, TS02I, TS03I and TS04I), with 15 papers presented. The attendance t the sessins was quite gd; it varied frm 25 50 (sme full rms!!); it indicates an interest in.

Please g the Cngress website fr the prceedings f the technical sessins: http://www.fig.net/pub/fig2014/ Technical Sessins jined with Cmmissin 1 Three technical sessins were rganised tgether with Cmmissin 1 (TS071, TS091 and TS11I) FIG Academic Members Frum The FIG Academic Members Frum is traditinally rganised with FIG Cmmissin 2. Wednesday 18 f June the Academic Members Frum met under the chairmanship Cmmissin 2 chair-elect Liza Grenendijk and with Steven Frank as rapprteur. Academic Members discussed the Academic respnsibilities and the Vluntary Guidelines n the Respnsible Gvernance f Tenure f Land, Fisheries and Frests in the Cntext f Natinal Fd Security (VGGT). The Academic Frum cnsisted f tw sessins: sessin 1 with presentatins frm FAO and fur key speakers and sessin 2 with breakut sessins and final presentatins and frmulatin f main respnsibilities and future actins. The sessin was attended by 19 representatives f academic members frm 15 cuntries. Richard Grver summarised the utcme f the Frum and prepared the draft reprt t be presented at the General Assembly and t be send t FAO.

Cmmissin 2 Diner The cmmissin diner tk place n Wednesday night; the venue was arranged by ur Malaysian delegate Prf. Alias Abdul Rahman. The diner was rganised tgether with FIG Cmmissin 1. This was a gd idea as nly 4 fur Cmmissin 2 delegates tk part in the diner. Several delegates, althugh cnfirmed, culd nt attend. Hwever, the Cmmissin 1 delegates where gd cmpany. It was a pleasant get tgether with beautiful perfrmances f traditinal dances frm Malayasia. Prf. Alias did a gd jb, fr which many thanks. Yung Surveyrs Wrkshp FIG Cmmissin 2 has clse links with the FIG Yung Surveyrs Netwrk and, if pssible, cntributes t their cnference(s) and wrkshps. The YSN had their secnd cnference. On Thursday 19 th f June FIG Cmmissin 2 cntributed t the Yung Surveyrs Wrkshp: Surveying Educatin are we meeting the needs f the present and future? The wrkshp intended t discuss new educatinal paradigms t meet the needs f the future survey prfessin with a particular fcus n the fllwing three discussed themes: 1. Educating surveying students, 2. Supprting and prmting successful yung academics and 3. Prviding access t cntinuing prfessinal develpment. The incming chair f FIG Cmmissin 2 gave ne f the three presentatins fr the wrkshp as input fr breakut sessins by the Yung Surveyrs. The utcme f the sessins was presented by the participants n flipcharts. Based n this, a draft statement will be frmulated. The sessins were well guided by tw yung surveyrs, Emily Tidey (New Zealand) and Odil Akbarv (Uzbekistan). The sessin is imprtant fr FIG Cmmissin 2 as it infrms the cmmissin abut the needs and challenges f the Yung Surveyrs. ACCO Meeting The ACCO Meeting takes place befre the Cngress starts and befre the General Assembly; the ACCO Meeting takes the whle day. It is the frum where FIG Cmmissin chairs (and chair-elects), Task Frce chairs, FIG Secretariat and thers meet, and is guided by ne the FIG vice-presidents. Issues f imprtance frm the FIG Cuncil are cmmunicated and practical issues discussed. The Cmmissins and Task Frces reprt n their activities. On Sunday 15 th f June Steven Frank (chair) and Liza Grenendijk (vice-chair) attended the ACCO Meeting. Sme f the issues f imprtance t ur cmmissin: Website f FIG is nt up-t-date; s is the infrmatin abut Cmmissin 2 and its fficers! FIG Secretariat is wrking n a new website. Fr up-t-date infrmatin cntact the secretariat r the cmmissin chairs. The chair presented his reprt f the 2014 activities. The incming chair presented her plans fr the new term (2015 2018).

FIG Cmmissin 2 Wrkshp 2015 in Nepal The Nepalese Institute f Chartered Surveyrs (NICS) and FIG Cmmissin 2 had an e-mail cmmunicatin earlier this year t discuss the rganisatin f a Cmmissin 2 Technical Wrkshp in Kathmandu, Nepal. During the FIG Cngress in Kuala Lumpur a meeting was held with the team f rganisers f the wrkshp and the fllwing was decided and will be prsed t the FIG Secretariat: FIG Cmmissin 2 Wrkshp t be held in Octber-Nvember 2015 in Kathmandu, Nepal. Organised by Nepal Institutin f Chartered Surveyrs (NICS) tgether with Survey Department, Land Management Training Centre, Ministry f Land Refrm and Management, Kathmandu University. Cllabratin with UN Habitat and ICIMOD. Duratin 3 days Wrkshp title: Strengthening Educatin fr Land Prfessinals T be expected 100 participants (including YS): 20 internatinal, 20 reginal (Asian Pacific) and 60 natinal. Registratin fee t be accessible fr all (ranging frm 150 fr internatinal participants t 10 fr students frm Nepal; t be decided) Invlvement f Yung Surveyrs is welcmed. An annuncement will be placed n the FIG website. Please keep track f the updates fr mre detailed infrmatin. New FIG Cmmissin 2 fficers and cntributrs During the cmmissin meeting, technical sessins and ther netwrking events at the FIG Cngress in Kuala Lumpur, the FIG Cmmissin 2 was prmted and peple were invited t jin FIG Cmmissin 2. Many delegates have an interest in Cmmissin 2 and recgnise its imprtance. Several peple jined the Cmmissin. Table 1 present a first verview f the delegates that indicated t be interested t becme r t remain active in FIG Cmmissin 2 in the new term 2015 2018.
