Leaderee is a weekend, or Saturday only learning adventure for co leaders and volunteers looking for ways to enhance their Girl Scout program delivery and troop management skills! Packed with a variety of sessions to choose from, you ll custom build your curriculum from our list of activities and program ideas you can bring back to your troop. Choices range from better ways to manage your troop, to projects you can share with your girls, to required skill trainings, like First Aid! Pre Registration is required; registration will close on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at midnight. Camping Tips 101 CMA Walking Stick Connect Globally Cork Keychain This course is open to anyone interested in obtaining Adult and Pediatric (Child and Infant) First Aid/CPR/AED certification and serving as a First Aider. This course combines online work and instructor led practice and skill testing. Participants must be able to complete a minimum of two and a half hours of online coursework prior to attending training and be able to print off proof of completion for the instructor. A link to the online portion of the training will be emailed to all participants. Note: All participants registering for this class will receive a copy of the American Red Cross Student Manual (a $9.00 savings) as part of our Leaderee special! Learn the sport of archery and all you need to know to give your girls this fun and unique experience. Who knows you may be encouraging a future Olympian! This course meets National Archery Association standards for a basic instructor. Register for sessions A, B, C, and D. This is a recommended course for anyone looking to take a Small Craft Safety Canoeing Training and Certification course. We'll teach you the basic strokes and maneuvers needed to set you up for success when you arrive at the certification course! One of the benefits of Girl Scouting is the friendships that are made! Learn how to make this simple, but oh so popular, braided friendship bracelet that you can share with your girls! The girls will love making these and they are a great time filling activity for girls and troops! Outdoor adventures and camping are amazing opportunities for girls to experience something new! Learn some great tips for your next adventure from an experienced outdoor enthusiast and even a few things that you may not want to try! Planning a hike for your troop? Have a high adventure group of girls? Come and see how easy it is to make a regular walking stick extraordinary! Participants will use fallen sticks from the grounds of CMA to create their own personal and truly unique walking stick for their next adventure and then share this idea with your girls before your next hike. Each year on World Thinking Day, Girl Scouts celebrate international friendship and explore important issues around the globe. Find the joy of connecting girls to the world using local community resources, getting online with WAGGS, and through Girl Scouts' World Centers! Together we'll explore Thinking Day activities and travel opportunities. Recommended for Cadette to Ambassador troops; but great information for all! Environmental Programs You Can Do in Your Own Backyard Essential Oils Make and Take Event Director Training Finger Knitting Flag Ceremonies Geocaching Holiday Ornaments How to Lead Troop Meetings: Putting it All Together! Lead Like a G.I.R.L. Make and Take: Kwik Kaper Chart You don't have to be an expert in order to explore the wonders of the environment with your girls! Join us for some quality time with nature: we'll learn fun activities for all ages that can be done just about anywhere...even your own backyard! Come learn some basic information about essential oils, including history, safety, and ways to use them in your everyday life. Each participant will also get to make and take home a peppermint lip scrub, chocolate peppermint lip balm and a whipped body butter which you can customize with various essential oils. Required for area event directors and those planning large events. Learn everything you need to know to plan, organize, and deliver fun (and safe!) events for the troops and girls in your local area! Participants will learn steps for completing required paperwork, how to engage your committee, planning tips, and more! Learn to knit using just your fingers! Participants will make a fun scarf to take home with them! A great project to share with your girls! Flag ceremonies are a Girl Scout tradition dating back to 1912. In this session, you will polish your skills and learn to teach your girls how to uphold the honor of our flag. Geocaching is a real world, outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the geocache (hidden container) at that location. Participants in this workshop will learn about this sport and then complete the five steps of the Junior Geocaching Badge. Get in the holiday spirit? Come to the holiday ornament session and learn how to make easy ornaments you can do with your girls! Are you a new troop leader? Have you been leading for a while but still need help with your troop meetings? This training will help you put all the pieces together from policies and procedures, to programming, to troop management. You will take away helpful tips and trips and plans for your next couple of troop meetings. All attendees must complete Volunteer Essentials Online; completion of New Co Leader Orientation highly recommended for new leaders. An essential component of Girl Scouting is our commitment to encouraging and allowing girls to take the lead! From brainstorming an activity, to planning, it s important that co leaders guide and encourage girls to lead. Learn valuable tips on how to let go and allow the girls to make decisions and lead! New Co Leader Orientation is required for co leaders take it at Leaderee! Role playing games first became popular in the 1970s and are still a favorite among players, young and old! Take your girls on a quest where there'll be challenges to face and puzzles to solve along the way! What makes this fun for everyone? The characters in the game are an adventuring party who have to rely on creativity, leadership, planning skills, and calculated risk taking while working as a team to be successful. Come see what it's all about and share this imaginative experience with your girls! An important part of leading girls is parent/guardian participation. Join us as we have an interactive discussion and share ideas on how to engage your parents and guardians in all aspects of the troop experience. Paddleboarding is a girl favorite! See what all the fun's about as you take a ride on the water! Learn to make this simple Pom Pom rug and then share it with your girls! Participants will get started and can take their project home to finish! Need somewhere to put that bag for trash while camping? Come make a portable PVC trashcan. It will also hold a dish basin for a single wash stand. This versatile, easy to put together stand will hold a standard kitchen trash bag. This will be a great item to add to your camping gear and will really impress the girls in your troop or area! When a girl acts out, it's often for attention. Learn how to identify different disruptive behaviors and strategies for managing them with modeling patience, tact, and respect. Whether you're brand new to the Volunteer Toolkit (VTK) or a returning co leader wanting to understand it better, this workshop is for you! We'll take a deeper dive into the VTK, look at the awesome features available, and help you get started with creating a Year Plan. The Professional Side of Girl Scouting Tie Dye Bandanas Upcycled T Shirt Bags Wreath Centerpiece You Can Do It! Climb the Alpine Tower Any skill can be transferable, but the trick is to show employers how the skills you've gained as a Girl Scout volunteer can apply to that dream job you're after! In this session, we will discuss how various roles can be used on your resume to make a career change or to move up in your current organization. Participants will have a great time learning to Tie Dye with this simple method that can easily be done with the girls. Each participant will make (2) bandanas during the workshop. If you would like to try the technique on a t shirt, participants are welcome to bring along a white cotton t shirt of their own to complete in class. Take an old t shirt and upcycle it into a useful tote or reusable grocery bag. An easy class for anyone and a good project to share with your girls! Do you need fall centerpiece to spruce up your table? Join us and learn how to make this easy centerpiece and take it home with you! Try your hand (and legs and heart) at climbing the Alpine Tower and see how far you can go. Didn't make it to the top? No problem. No matter what, you'll experience the same thrill and sense of accomplishment the girls do when they take on the Tower! One of our most popular camp activities, you'll learn about "challenge by choice" and you'll be able to share your own story with your girls and get them excited about this unique Girl Scout activity!
