As well, The Lincoln Series courses apply toward the requirements for the NTL Appreciative Inquiry Certificate Program. All Lincoln Workshop Series courses immerse participants in the practice of enabling clients to identify what gives life to their systems in ways that create agile, adaptive and creative organizations. These programs teach the use of AI as a process for change in human systems, and adds the development of skills that will increase understanding of the use of self as an agent of change, enhance contracting skills, and develop capacity to utilize experiential learning as a process for fostering creativity. This combination produces change agents with the capacity for excellence in all the required functions of a master change agent! From 18th to 22nd of April, 2016 About Appreciative Inquiry About the program This Interna2onal AI Founda2on Course is designed for managers, human resource professionals, organiza2onal and commu- nity facilitators, from corporate, govern- mental and charitable, not- for- profit organiza2ons. Anyone who wants to get a solid grounding in the theory and prac2ce of Apprecia2ve Inquiry. Developed over the past decade, this workshop uses an experience- based model that prepares consultants to work with AI in client systems and prepares leaders and managers to use AI for working with organiza2on and community change. Rather than just another technique, AI is presented as a radically innova2ve ap- proach to facilita2ng change. Illustra2ons of this construc2ve approach to organiza2on transforma2on will be drawn from work with small and large corp- ora2ons, with communi2es, and with interna2onal organiza2ons addressing global issues of transboundary concern. What you will learn This in- depth workshop will cover both the theory and prac2ce of Apprecia2ve Inquiry. Special apen2on will be given to: - the power of posi2ve ques2ons - the simultaneity of inquiry and change - the func2on of narra2ve and metaphor in human systems transforma2on - how to deal with spiraling vocabularies of human deficit - how to create alignment across func2onal, genera2onal, cultural and technical boundaries - how to build global organizing capacity to meet the challenges of the next millennium. In addi2on to becoming familiar with tools for applying AI in organiza2ons, workshop par2cipants will: Receive support in actually prac2cing apprecia2ve topic iden2fica2on, ques2on construc2on, interviewing skills, grounded visioning, transla2ng the vision into innova2ve processes, prac2ces, roles and structures and implemen2ng for sustainability Work through case examples of actual Apprecia2ve Inquiry consul2ng projects that are brought by other par2cipants Become familiar with the mul2- disciplinary principles, research and theory base of AI Develop their ability to apply the AI framework to a variety of inter- ven2ons such as: Strategic Planning, Internal Audi2ng, Organiza2onal Redesign, Mergers, Team building, Program Formula2on and Evalua2on, and Diversity. Learn how to introduce this strikingly different approach in ways congruent with AI philosophy. Apprecia2ve Inquiry (AI) is a powerful new vehicle for energizing posi2ve change in an organiza2on s or community s human, ecological, and economic func2oning. Its aim is to discover, expand, and sustain an organiza2on s root causes of success. As a next genera2on approach to the whole field of organiza2onal change and development, AI is a consul2ng process which grows out of social construc2onist thought and its applica2ons to organiza2on and community transforma2on. While AI is very effec2ve in facilita2ng change at the individual and small group level, AI is par2cularly useful in complex environments and situa2ons with culture transforma2on, restructuring, mergers, acquisi2ons, program formula2on and evalua2on, strategic planning and for rela2onal processes such as union/ management rela2onship, team building, conflict and capacity building. AI also enables managers to make the essen2al leap in becoming true leaders of their organiza2ons. 2
UNIQUE Why choose the Lincoln Workshop Series - Appreciative Inquiry Foundation Course with Appreciative Inquiry France? What s the unique value of this course? 15 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE IN TRAINING AI LWS is a series of Appreciative Inquiry workshops, created by Jane Magruder Watkins, author of Change at the Speed of Imagination. Jane was the Dean of the NTL Institute, created in 1947 in the United States, following Kurt Lewin s work on group dynamics. NTL has been the starting point for Organzational Development. Jane has developed the most complete set of AI training which exists today, in line with David Cooperrider s work at Case Western Reserve AI FOUNDATION COURSE: A STARTING POINT TO OTHER ADVANCED WORKSHOPS The Foundation course is the starting point of a series of 6 AI courses, which you can follow in any of the countries where they are given: France, Switzerland, UK, USA, South Africa, Italy. We cover: Strategic Planning, Coaching, Teambuilding, AI Human Interaction lab, Design Experiential Based Learning and Change. A WEEK OF COMPLETE IMMERSION IN APPRECIATIVE INQUIRY We often have questions about the length of the workshop. AI is a change in paradigm and not a technique or a method. It is a philosophy and a process. During 5 days the participants have the time and space to deeply reflect on the principles, integrate them and have ideas about the way they are going to implement these principles in their projects. HIGHLY EXPERIENCED TRAINERS All trainers are trained by Jane McGruder Watkins and Mette Jacobsgaard, following specific process consisting of several steps, where they progressively learn how to co-facilitate each of the modules of the complete cycle. All trainers are either members or associates of NTL or have been trained at NTL. EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING There is not a single Powerpoint slide. Participants will practice concretely during 5 days the principles and the process of AI, instead of talking about it in a theoretical and abstract way. ENTERING A LIVING COMMUNITY OF PRACTITIONERS AT THE INTERNATIONAL LEVEL This workshop enables you to enter a living community of all the practitioners trained for the last 15 years. It is a learning community which is an infinitely rich source of resources for you to continue growing in your AI practice. 3
