The program aims to improve school performance, build self-esteem and self-respect, and establish wholesome relationships. Gently used clothing is donated from local community members and then offered to women in need. The YWCA s Women s Empowerment Center provides assistance to women who are seeking employment or advancing in their careers. The Center provides training and carries out a mentoring program to women in the community seeking a sustainable career. Volunteer mentors are matched up with women in need of goal or job assistance. Monday-Friday 9am-8pm Background Check required, successful and satisfied in a current or past career, higher education YWCA Women s Empowerment Lunch & Learn/Presenter Volunteer The YWCA s Women s Empowerment Center provides monthly training sessions to women in the community seeking career information. Those in the community schedule a training date to train on their expertise. The training is typically 45 minutes to an hour long and open to scheduling dates and time throughout the month. TechGYRLS is an program designed to nurture STEM areas (science, technology, engineering and math) in girls in grades four through eight. The program, which has a special focus on at-risk and lowincome girls, is typically held for 90 minutes after school time. Four sessions are offered throughout the school year. Each session is one day per week for eight weeks. A TechGYRLS Summer Camp is also held. The TechGYRLS program is designed to encourage girls to be successful in the STEM areas while developing skills that transition into other school areas. Go to an assigned school and help teach a group of low income girls the pre set-up curriculum (supply pick up at the YWCA) Connect and be good role models for young girls Talk of career paths beyond high school Teach science, technology, engineering and math After school hours from 2:00pm to 5:00pm Monday-Friday Have a love for STEM and children Able to drive or arrange transportation Dependable, shows up on time Maintenance Volunteers Our maintenance staff assists in keeping the facility and equipment well maintained and "as new" as possible. It s our goal to help the leading staff member on given tasks around the building and maintain and positive clean looking environment. This could be, but not limited to indoor or outdoor care, plumbing or electrical, painting or moving equipment. Cleaning rooms, floors, equipment and toys are part of the maintenance tasks. The YWCA believes that a child's early years play a critical part in his or her overall development. Daily lessons are carefully planned to provide an environment for children to develop and learn through creative play, age-appropriate materials, and teacher support and guidance. Provide childcare and support the implementation of structured children s activities for all participating children, primarily ages 0 to 4. Notify staff of any special needs or concerns regarding a child or family, and work with staff to ensure that the child and/or family receives the resources necessary. Assist staff with both long and short term activities in accordance with the curriculum Hours of operation are from 6:30am to 6:00pm. We are open to the times of volunteering between those hours Background Check required Fitness / Pool Volunteers Our fitness department contributes to the wellbeing of YWCA members by leading them through safe and productive exercises in a fitness class. This can include swimming, yoga, dance, gymnastics and other fitness activities. Volunteers can help people grow in many ways that are consistent with the YWCA s mission of building body, mind and spirit. To greet and welcome members. To lead a fitness class following National YWCA guidelines. To maintain YWCA recognized fitness instructor certification.
