THE INDIAN INSTITUTES OF TECHNOLOGY JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION IIT - JEE Admission of Indian nationals to undergraduate Programmes like B.Tech/ B.Pharm/Integrated M.Sc., and M.Tech Courses in any one of the IITs at Bhubaneswar, Bombay, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jodhpur, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Mandi, Patna, Jodhpur, Roorkee and Ropar, is made through the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by CBSE and IIT every year. The Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad and the Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi also admit students from the JEE Merit List to their undergraduate Programmes. Pattern of Examination* The JEE now consists of a two stage examination initially with one paper called JEE Main conducted by CBSE and two papers called Advanced by IITs (Paper 1 and Paper 2), each of three hours duration. Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will each have three separate sections on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Both the papers will be objective type, designed to test the comprehension and analytical ability of Candidates. Eligibility for writing the JEE (Main) 2016 * (i) All Indian and foreign nationals seeking admission to the IITs must have scored 45% marks in the qualifying examination (For reserved categories the minimum score is 40%). (ii) Students who have passed the 10+2 or equivalent in 2014 and 2015 candidates appearing in the 10+2 or equivalent exam in 2016 are eligible to appear in JEE Main. (iii) A candidate is allowed only three attempts to write the JEE Main. He/She will be allowed to write the JEE only in the year in which he/she passes the qualifying examination and/or in the following year. (iv) The Scores of JEE Main for all candidates comprises the actual marks obtained along with the status of those who qualify for * Based on the Notification published for JEE, 2015 1

appearing in JEE Advanced (v) On the basis of JEE Main marks and normalised score in 12th or other qualifying exam( 60% + 40% weightage respectively) separate rank list will be prepared for admission to B.E / B.Tech in institutions other than IITs (vi) The date of birth of a candidate intending to write the JEE in 2016 must fall on or after October 01, 1991. There is a five year relaxation in the upper age limit for SC/ST/PD candidates whose date of birth must fall on or after October 01, 1986. Eligibility and other details of JEE 2015 (Advanced) * (i) Candidates who wish to write JEE (Advanced) must write Paper - I of JEE (Main) -2016 in the month of April 2016 For eligibility conditions to appear in JEE (Main) please refer http://www.jeemain. nic.in. Only top 1,50,000 candidates (including all categories) who qualify in Paper - I of JEE (Main) will be eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced). (ii) A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) maximum two times in consecutive years. Candidates who had attempted JEE 2015 for the first time (having passed QE in 2015) can appear in JEE (Advanced) 2016, by qualifying in Paper - I of JEE (Main) - 2015. Those who attempted JEE in 2014 or earlier are NOT ELIGIBLE to appear in JEE (Advanced) - 2016. (iii) Type of Examination : In JEE (Advanced) - 2016, there will be two question papers, each of three hours duration. The question papers will be in English and Hindi separately. Each of the question papers will consist of three separate sections on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The questions will be of objective type, designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates. In some sections, incorrect answers will be awarded negative marks. The answers for each of the questions are to be marked on a separate, 2-sheet carbonless paper. Candidate must not separate or the alignment of the upper and lower sheets at any stage during the examination. The upper sheet is specially designed machine readable sheet of paper (ORS-Optical Response sheet). 2

While answering each of the questions the candidate is expected to darken the bubble(s) against correct answer(s) only on the upper sheet using black ball point pen. The darkening on the upper sheet should be done in such a manner that the impression is seen on the lower sheet. Responses recorded on the upper sheet only will be taken as final. The candidate can take away the lower sheet with the permission of the invigilator(s) at the end of the examination. (vi) RESULTS OF JEE (Advanced) : The answer sheets of JEE (Advanced) are a machine-readable Optical Response Sheet (ORS). These sheets are graded and scrutinized with extreme care after the examination. Candidates can view the answer keys of JEE (Advanced) on Zonal JEE (Advanced) portal. Candidates will get to know their All India Ranks (AIR) / Category ranks of JEE (Advanced) 2016 through Zonal IIT websites (v) PROCEDURES FOR DETERMINING THE CUT-OFF MARKS AND RANKING : Only those candidates who attempted both Paper - 1 and Paper - 2 of JEE (Advanced) will be considered for the ranking. Marks in Physics in JEE (Advanced) will be equal to marks in Physics section of Paper - 1 plus marks in Physics section of Paper - 2. Similar procedures will be followed for Chemistry and Mathematics. The sum of the marks obtained in the individual subjects will be the aggregate marks for the candidate. (vi) RANK LIST : Based on the performance in JEE (Advanced) - 2016, a Common Merit List (CML) will be prepared. Candidates must score at least 10% in each subject and 35% in aggregate in order to be in the CML. Separate merit lists will be prepared corresponding to OBC (NCL), SC and ST Categories with less prescribed minimum marks, as specified in them IIT Brochure. 3

Candidates of OBC (NCL) category must score at least 9% in each subject and 31.5% in aggregate in order to be in the OBC merit list. Candidates of SC and ST categories must score at least 5% in each subject and 17.5% in aggregate in order to be in their respective merit lists. (vii) PD Merit Lists : Separate PD merit lists will be prepared corresponding to the GE, OBC (NCL), SC and ST categories. To be in these respective merit lists, candidates must score at least 5% in each subject and 17.5% in aggregate. (viii) Tie-break : The tie-break criterion in the various merit lists adopted for awarding ranks to the candidates who have scored the same aggregate marks is as follows: Higher rank for higher marks in Mathematics, followed by marks in Physics and same rank in case both the candidates have the same marks in each of the three subjects. Note: Obtaining a rank in JEE (Advanced) - 2016 does not guarantee admission to any of the courses available in IITs and ISM Dhanbad. 4

JEE Simulator Series Ten Full-Syllabus JEE Simulator Papers(Main and Advanced), based on the JEE pattern, with sealed solutions, will be sent to our postal students. 5

The Course Material: Lessons and Exercises The study material will be in the form of seven sets of lesson material and exercises. The theory notes are elaborate with topics fully explained and with a number of illustrations and Practice Tests. Each lesson is followed by an exercise in the form of objective questions. The student should study the theory well, systematically work out the exercises and should then compare his working with the fully workedout solutions which will be provided in the subsequent set. Working sheets of exercises should NOT be sent to us. PROGRESSIVE TESTS Progressive Tests - Online There will be six Postal Tests, (online) with questions in each of the three subjects, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. These objective papers, modeled on the JEE pattern. Students should self-administer the Tests strictly under examination conditions, and finish each paper in one sitting within the specified time limit, without referring to the study materials. Complete solutions to each of the papers will be available online. Ready Reference Compendium To help solve problems more easily, we provide a Ready Reference Compendium, a collection of important formulae, equations and data in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. 6

B.MAT BRILLIANT S MOCK ALL-INDIA TEST SERIES FOR JEE Fourteen National Tests & 10 Full-Syllabus, Home-based Simulator Tests B.MAT Part Tests (Online) There will be three B.MAT Part Tests conducted Online across the country. Each of these three Tests will cover selected topics in Physics, Maths and Chemistry to enable the student to thoroughly assess his/her level of preparation, topic-wise. The first B.MAT Part Test is scheduled for September 2015, the second and third for October 2015, and November 2015 respectively Answer papers will be evaluated and every student who appears for these Tests, will be given his/her individual Percentile Score. B.MAT 18 Full Syllabus Tests (8 National and 10 Home-Based Simulator Tests) To help students prepare thoroughly for the JEE, eight B.MAT Full- Syllabus Main and Advanced Tests will be conducted under exact JEE pattern. The first two Tests are scheduled for December 2015 and the next two for January 2016. Two more Tests will be in February 2016 and the last two are scheduled for March 2016 after the Std. XII Board Exams. At each Test, students will be administered one JEE (Main) and two 3 hour Objective type test Papers for Advanced. Each paper will have separate sections(physics, Maths and Chemistry) and will test the comprehension and analytical ability of the students to give them valuable practice to face 7

the JEE 2015. The Question Papers of these Tests will not be sent by Post to students who do not appear in these Tests. B.MAT PERFORMANCE EVALUATION Answer papers for all eight Sit-down Tests will be evaluated and every student who appears for these tests will be given his/her individual percentile score so that they know their relative performance against the national competition. Students should self-administer each of these Simulator Test Papers under strict examination conditions, closely following the instructions in the papers, and then evaluate their performance by comparing their answers with the solutions provided in the accompanying sealed envelopes. This home-based Simulator Test Series, plus the B.MAT Test Series will give students the cumulative experience of having sat through 18 JEE Tests before appearing for the actual JEE 2016. This experience will build up speed, precision and a test-taking mind-set to help students face the JEE with supreme self-confidence. Note: The first 2 home-based JEE Simulator Test Papers will be sent on enrolment or in December 2015 whichever is later. The next five Test Papers will be sent in January 2016 ONLY when we receive a photocopy of the student's JEE 2016 Application Form showing the Application Number. The last three Test Papers will be sent ONLY on our receiving a photocopy of the student s Hall Ticket for the JEE 2016, clearly showing the Registration Number and with the photograph visible. 10

Doubt Letter Scheme Our Professors services are readily available to clear students difficulties while studying our course material. Students are welcome to send to us, in writing, their doubts, even if our entire course material was received much earlier. Problems must be restricted to 5 per letter and be well within the examination syllabus. The source from which the problems have been taken MUST BE SPECIFIED and the student s working sheets must be enclosed. Problems/questions published in magazines for awards, will not be replied to, if sent to us as doubt letters. Doubt Letters which do not meet these specific conditions will not be answered. The objective questions will be presented topic-wise, so that the student can attempt the problems in any topic as and when he/she feels comfortable with his/her level of preparedness in that particular topic. Questions and problems that cover more than a single topic will be given together, at the end of each subject. In Y.G. File, Part I, there will be a total of 750 Objective (250 Questions in each of the three subjects Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics). Y.G. File Part II will have another 750 Problems on a similar pattern. The solutions to all the objective questions will be sent with the respective questions and problems. COURSE FEES The fee for the One-year Postal Course with Y.G. File, B.MAT Test Series is Rs. 16100/- + Service Tax Rs. 2254/-.Total: Rs. 18354/-. The fee for the Y.G. PROCEDURE FOR ENROLMENT Enrolment for JEE 2016 opens on January 01, 2015. The student should send us: 1. The Enrolment Form completed and signed on both sides, and with a passport size photograph pasted in the space provided. 2. Two additional signed copies of the photograph (preferably colour) with the Enrolment Form. Note: Enrolment Forms without the three photographs will not be accepted. 3. Payment can be made by: a.
