2 in-plant training of 60 days in an organization of repute assigned by the Institute or accessible to them. The objective of this activity is to test the ability of the student to apply management theories to practical business situations. He/She has, therefore to work on any topic/problem related to any functional of management area. The problem/topic can also be assigned by the organization in which the students undergo in-plant training, in the absence of which he/she is free to select topic on his / her own. In the light of exposure to different functional area and Research Methodology at M.B.A Part-I curriculum, the students have to collect the data relevant to their topic, identify the problem, collect and collate the relevant data, analyze the same methodically, make intelligent inferences and report contents. A chapter scheme is suggested, which can be adopted with or without modification. 1. ARRANGEMENT OF CONTENTS: The sequence in which the mini project report material should be arranged and bound should be as follows: (REPORT SCHEME) 1. Cover Page.(Refer Annexure I) 2. Title Page. 3. List of Tables if any 10. List of Figures if any 11. Chapter Scheme. (Refer Annexure VI) 12. References

PREPARATION FORMAT:- ABSTRACT Abstract should be one page synopsis of the mini project report typed 1.5 line spacing, Font Style Garamond and Font Size 14. Table of Contents A specimen copy of the Table of Contents of the Project/Inplant report is given in Appendix List of Tables & List of Figures The list should use exactly the same captions as they appear above the tables in the text. One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the matter under this head. CHAPTER SCHEME:- The chapters may be broadly divided into 3 parts (i) Introductory chapter, (ii) Chapters developing the main theme of the mini project (iii) and Suggestions, Findings & Conclusion. The main text will be divided into several chapters and each chapter may be further divided into several divisions and sub-divisions. 1) Introduction to Study :- Students are expected to give a brief introduction of the study along with the problem under the study, objectives, hypotheses, scope and limitations. 2) Company Profile:-history and present status of the company with the organization structure. 3) Literature Review:- Here relevant theoretical background in brief may be given by referring to some standard text books, journals, newspapers etc. Students should endeavor to collect, compile and concisely cover latest information and data by

4 scanning latest articles published in periodicals, journal etc. Please note that the latest authentic data adds to the quality of the project report and gives a good impression to the viva committee as well as organizations where in students are placed for summer training. Data collected from others source should be duly acknowledged. 4) Research Methodology (Refer Annexure VII) :- This should include the research design, source of data collection and sampling plan. 5) Data Analysis and Interpretations :- this chapter data collected through questionnaire, observations, inspection of records, interviews conducted or data collected from published records be systematically analyzed and table, graphs, diagrams,maps are to be used wherever necessary to present type data. Use of SPSS is advisable. 6) Findings:- Results should be given in this chapter on the basis of data analysis and interpretation. 7) Suggestion:- In this chapter practical suggestions should be given, to the organizations to solve the problem identified in the study. 8) Conclusions:- Conclude the project by brief summary. 9) Managerial Implications & Scope of Future Study:-This section should also include a note on implications of the results to the managers and practitioners. The purpose of future research section is to demonstrate that you not only understand what you did, but also see how your work fits with the wider development of the area. Mention Scope of the Study for 1) Internal Affairs of the Business / Organization. 2)External Affairs like Governments/Economy/Market. & 3) Future Research. 10) Appendices :- a. Questionnaire copy. b. Assessment work sheets. c. Financial statement. d. Bibliography.(Refer Annexure ) GENERAL GUIDELINE:- PERSONAL CONTACTS:- Many students want to work in areas or in organizations, which do not visit the campus. In such cases, students must write to such organizations and convince them for summer project. They may tap into their personal networks to solicit interest from such organizations. ENTREPRENEURIAL VENTURE:- Some students are interested in developing their own business. So exploit this opportunity, develop concept. Innumerable successful companies have been launched from plans/projects developed by students in B-Schools. FOLLOWING AVENUES ARE AVAILABLE IN AURANGABAD MIDC:- 1)Multinational corporations.

5 2)Indian Large/ Multinational Companies. 3)Small & Medium Enterprises. 4)Govt./ Public Sector Undertaking. 5)Cooperative Sector Organisation. 6)Non-Gov. Organisation has its own work culture & the students will have to adjust to it quickly. GENERAL INSTRUCTION:- 1. Complete the In-plant Training Report / Project sincerely meticulously, vigilantly & in Time. 2. Send the Joining Report in Time duly signed with date by the competent authority of the organization assigned. 3. Join the organization as early as possible & see that are spending a minimum of 45-60 days in the organization assigned. 4. Study the entire organization carefully with special emphasis on the topic selected / assigned problem. 5. Collect all the data and information required to complete the project. 6. A true & real outcome of this in-plant training opportunity should be an offer for a managerial post in the organization.this will bring name and fame to our institution and add weight age to your own bio-data. 7. Do maximum readings of journals, periodicals etc. to improve your understanding of the subject. 8. If two or more students are placed in the same organization, make sure that there is no duplication of matter and title of the project, which may lead to copying and is highly objectionable. 9. You require minimum of 10 seating with the concerned guide at the institute before finalization of report. 10. Do not bind the report unless authorized by the guide. OTHER INSTRUCTION:- 1) Report should contain a minimum of 7000 words. For counting 7000 only chapter scheme should be considered. 2) Generally, each typed page should contain 30 to 35 lines (i.e.150 to 200 words). In all, project should be approximately / maximum of 100 pages. 3) Students are required to submit three copies of the report.. a. University copy (with originals). b. Institute copy. c. Student s copy (for his own record).

6 4) Acknowledgement & Declaration must be signed in blue ink by the student before submission. The certificate of company should be signed by the authorized person in BLUE INK. 5) Report should contain page numbers. Page number is to be marked at the bottom center of the page. 6) The sequence of page must be strictly followed. 7) Graphs, Diagrams etc. should be annexed at the end and references should be made. POINTS TO BE REMEMBER:- 1)Try to collect collect the following details regarding the company you are joining. This will be useful in presenting company profile :-Balance sheet analysis. Organizational structure.key personnel with respect to placement decision. Product/serviceoffered. Marketing Strategies.Joint Venture. Supply Chain.Innovation..etc 2) Keep in continuous touch with the contact person of organization. 3) Be conceptually clear about the project and its Objectives, Empirical Research Methodology and Tentative time schedule. 4) Dress soberly at work. Report at work before your manager does & leave after he/ she does. 5) Report your progress to your Guide / Academic on a regular basis. 6) Ask if any help could be given to your manager in his professional work. 7) You should be able to speak about FOSTER DEVELOPMENT SCHOOL OFMANAGEMENT, its mission & values & live that way. 8) Learn how to give effective presentations & the use of audio-visual equipments. 9) Facts should be presented as observed. 10) Recommendations should be realistic, financially feasible, technically viable, pragmatic & generally rewarding to the company, if implemented. 11) Your project report must be completed & submitted to the institute before cutoff date. Thereafter, late submission will not allow you appearing the final presentation. 12) Each chapter should be given an appropriate title. 13) Keep appropriate left Margin so that binding does not affect your text.
