April 20, 2011 CEU presentation 2 Hours Seminar to be held in conjunction with NYSSO Location: Hilton Garden Inn 270 Route 59 West Nanuet, New York 10954 7:00 PM 7:15 PM Registration 7:15 PM 7:30 PM OANJ/NYSSO Joint-Presentation 7:30 Pm 8:30 PM Seminar: Transitions XTRActive Lenses Speaker: Elizabeth Quinn, Transitions Accreditation: 1 CEU Description: This course will introduce Transitions XTRActive lenses the newest product in the Transitions lens family and a new choice for everyday lens wearers. Transitions XTRActive lenses are the darkest everyday Transitions lenses available offering superior darkness outdoors, moderate darkness behind the windshield of a car and an attractive light tint indoors. The course details the advanced photochromic technology behind the new Transitions XTRActive lenses, how they work and who they are for; and provides tips on how eyecare professionals can position Transitions XTRActive lenses to potential patients, increasing sales and customer satisfaction. NEEDS ASSESSMENT: Photochromic lenses represent a significant source of growth for the optical retail sector accounting for approximately one in five everyday lenses sold. With research showing that more consumers intend to purchase photochromics than actually do (34 percent vs. 17 percent), there remains a tremendous business growth opportunity. Eyecare professionals can increase both sales and customer satisfaction by understanding how to target specific segments of the population and position the right product to the right patient. 8:30 PM 8:40 PM Refreshment Break 8:40 PM 9:40 PM Seminar: Progressives in the Digital Age Speaker: Joseph Lombardo, Hunter College NYC Accreditation: 1 CEU Description: In order to show the advances in progressive lens manufacturing the first part of this program discusses progressives in general terms covering the following topics. 2011 April & May Seminars Page 2
This program will cover the following topics: Importance of the Design-discusses no matter how something is made if the initial design is flawed the outcome will also be flawed. It uses examples from outside as well as inside the optical industry. Natural Reading Posture-How people normally read. Examples without any visual correction, standard, progressives and with Various, as well as the importance of having the near zone properly placed. Binocularity-the importance of having both eyes working together. Potential of the DS Process Review of Design-Natural Reading Posture (efficient progression) Properly Positioned Near Zone (variable inset) Binocular Vision (balanced peripheries) Varilux Physio also provides Sharper focus (W.A.V.E. Technology) Potential of Digital Surfacing-discusses the limitations of traditional surfacing vs. digital surfacing. How Digital Surfacing Works-A description of what digital surfacing is, how it is done, showing how the increased design flexibility the benefits to the patient. Concludes with the process of duel optics and how it benefits the patient. The participants in this program should be able to: Understand the difference between traditional and digital surfacing Realize digital surfacing in itself is not nearly as important as the design Confidently recommend digitally surfaced progressives to all their patients. *TO REGISTER FOR THE APRIL 20TH PROGRAM, PLEASE CONTACT DIANE VILLAVECCHIA BY PHONE 1.203.968.1745; FAX 1.203.968.9790 SPONORED BY: 2011 April & May Seminars Page 3
