Grade Mapping: Grading will be dne n a sum-pint basis. The percentage f pints earned t ttal pints pssible will determine yur final grade per the table belw. Numeric Grade Letter Grade Numeric Grade Letter Grade Numeric Grade Letter Grade A (93-100%) B- (80-82%) D+ (67-70%) A- (90-92%) C+ (77-79%) D (63-66%) B+ (87-89%) C (73-76%) D- (60-63%) B (83-86%) C- (70-72%) F (<60%) Assignment Grading Plicies: Grades, and instructr feedback, will be psted in Mdle. This is a curse in the Schl f Business. Thus, deadlines will be treated as they will be managed in the wrking wrld i.e. get things dne n time. Please be aware that late submissins f case analysis assignments will nt be accepted because cases will be reviewed and discussed in class immediately after the submissin deadline. Fr ther assignments, a late submissin which is received within 24-hurs f the deadline will be assessed an autmatic 10% pint deductin, and if received 24-48 hurs after the deadline will be assessed an autmatic 20% pint deductin. N submissins will be accepted ver 48-hur past the deadline. This is a seven week curse. Please attend every sessin. Student Respnsibilities: [1] Class participatin and written assignments are required fr this curse. Yu cannt successfully cmplete this curse withut cmpleting the weekly readings assignments. Each week there will be a discussin tpic n Mdle. The tpic will cme frm the text r ther reading. Yur participatin is will be graded. There are 10 pints pssible each week. Again these are easy pints. Participate. Discuss. Cntribute. Participate, discuss, and cntribute meaningfully. The fllwing are examples f what are nt meaningful pstings. Use them I agree Gd pint What is meaningful, a paragraph giving yur pint f view r an example yu have experienced. Prviding a reference t an article r paper and hw that paper relates t the tpic at hand is gd psting. Reading an article smene else has psted and cmmenting n it is als a gd way. Again, this is a subjective evaluatin but knw that yur instructr want t give all ten pints. Mak e this easy fr him t d. Hw many pstings? Usually each student starts a thread answering a questin fr 15 pints. Then each student is required t cmment n threads started by tw ther students fr 5 pints each. Grup Wrk Students will be assigned int Sectr grups n the first day f class. The grups will include: Online and Big Bx Retailers Fd and Cnsumer Prducts Cnsumer Electrnics Autmtive Within Sectrs, each team member will chse a cmpany. 2 Papers/Case Studies Each paper will be wrth 50 pints. POLICY STATEMENTS Academic Hnesty In keeping with ur Christian heritage and cmmitment, Nrth Park University and the Schl f Business and Nnprfit Management are cmmitted t the highest pssible ethical and mral standards. Just as we will cnstantly strive t live up t these high standards, we expect ur students t d the same. T that end, cheating f any srt will nt be tlerated. Students wh are discvered cheating are subject t discipline up t and including failure f a curse and expulsin. Our definitin f cheating includes but is nt limited t: 1. Plagiarism the use f anther s wrk as ne s wn withut giving credit t the individual. This includes using materials frm the internet. 2. Cpying anther s answers n an examinatin. 3. Deliberately allwing anther t cpy ne s answers r wrk. 4. Signing an attendance rster fr anther wh is nt present. In the special instance f grup wrk, the instructr will make clear his/her expectatins with respect t individual vs. cllabrative wrk. A vilatin f these expectatins may be cnsidered cheating as well. Fr further infrmatin n this subject yu may refer t the Academic Dishnesty sectin f the University s nline catalg. In cnclusin, it is ur missin t prepare each student fr a life f significance and service. Hnesty and ethical behavir are the fundatin upn which such lives are built. We therefre expect the highest standards f each student in this regard. Attendance Plicy fr Quad and Graduate Curses The graduate curses in the SBNM are all 7 weeks in length. Missing ne class sessin is allwed withut penalty as lng as all readings and assignments are made up by the student within a reasnable time perid (the fllwing week). Failing t lg int an nline curse site fr an entire week is allwed, but a penalty may be applied at the instructr s discretin. Missing a secnd class sessin is allwed nly in unusual circumstances by prir arrangement with the instructr. Since this represents almst 30% f the engagement time fr the curse, the student runs the risk f receiving a lwer verall grade fr the class. Faculty are encuraged t drp the curse grade by a full letter grade in this situatin. A student wh misses three classes (r the equivalent tw weeks fr an nline class) will autmatically fail the curse, unless the student drps the curse befre the seventh week f class. Students wh drp a curse will be held respnsible fr tuitin, based upn the current Nrth Park University refund plicy utlined in the University Catalg. Attendance Plicy fr Undergraduate Curses Attendance and participatin are vital. Thus, students are expected t attend every class sessin, and t arrive n time tardiness is undesirable and disruptive t yur fellw classmates. This curse has a strict requirement f dcumented, advance ntificatin. If yu are unable t attend any class sessin, yu are t infrm me (preferably by email) prir t that sessin. Yu need t prvide a reasn fr yur absence. Failure t prvide advance ntificatin will result in an unexcused absence. Be advised that pr attendance can affect yur grade adversely APA Requirement BSE 3630 Gavr 8-11-16 6

The Schl f Business and Nnprfit Management (SBNM) has adpted the Publicatin Manual f the American Psychlgical Assciatin (APA) as the standard and required frmat fr all written assignments in SBNM curses. Our gal in adpting the APA Manual is t enhance student learning by: 1) Imprving student s writing skills. 2) Standardizing the required frmat f all written assignments in all SBNM curses. 3) Emphasizing the imprtance f paper mechanics, grammatical cnstructs, and the necessity f prper citatins. 4) Hlding students accuntable fr high quality written wrk. If yu are unfamiliar with the requirements f the APA Manual, we recmmend that yu purchase the reference manual and/r that yu cnsult ne r mre f the suggested resurces as listed n the Student Resurces sectin f the SBNM website. It is yur respnsibility t learn and ensure that all written wrk is frmatted accrding t the standards f the APA Manual. Students with Disabilities Students with disabilities wh believe that they may need accmmdatins in this class are encuraged t cntact yur prgram's ffice (Business: 773-244-6270). Please d s as sn as pssible t better ensure that such accmmdatins are implemented in a timely manner. Fr further infrmatin please review the fllwing website: http://www.nrthpark.edu/campus-life-and-services/disability- Resurces Title IX Students wh believe they have been harassed, discriminated against, r invlved in sexual vilence shuld cntact the Dean f Students (773-244-5565) r Directr f Human Resurces (773-244-5599) fr infrmatin abut campus resurces and supprt services, including cnfidential cunseling services.
