Born the son of a Brazilian taxi driver, Juan Enricos has become one of the best-known ballet dancers in the world and the only Latin-American principal dancer The National Ballet in Moscow has ever had. One of 10 children, Juan grew up in a poor part of Brasilia. By the time he was nine he was in trouble at school. His father decided to get him away from his group of friends. A distant relative was sending his children to ballet school and his father thought it would also be good for Juan. Juan wanted to be a footballer. He thought ballet was boring and just for girls.
