Materials to bring & how to handle missing items pencil/binder, out of uniform cases. 4. Bell-to-bell - Bell-ringer, note-taking, writing, cold call, exit ticket 5. Participation norm- 100%, cold call, normalize error 6. Bathroom pass 7. How to regain student attention -hand signal, STAR 8. How to set up group work 9. How to turn-in HW / pick up late work 10. How to leave classroom 11. Bonus - Assessment routine (quiz, test, benchmark, retake,star)* 12. Bonus - Quality work - demonstrate and review rubric & exemplary work 13. Bonus - How to use & turn in electronics (i-pad, chrome book, calculators)

Non-negotiables # 3 UAS Scholar Checklist The following non-negotiable are checked at the door daily. Be on time Be prepared Be in proper uniform Be on task 1. Students receive weekly participation grade on the checklist 2. Students who don t follow these non-negotiables will be referred to behavior specialists/dos by grade level teachers. 3. Repeated offenders are subject to behavioral consequences and restrictions on extra curricular event (code blue).

Non-negotiable #4 Course Binder Each core course must require every student to have an organized binder divided into sections at the teacher s discretion. For example, in Social Studies: Table of Contents Loose-leaf paper / Cornell Note taking sheets Vocabulary Handouts Tests/Quizzes Each teacher is expected to administer a graded binder check or quiz to ensure student organization. (Elective Classes will use an organized folder or binder)

Non-negotiables #5 Classroom Instruction 1. Objective & E/Q 2. Hook - Bell ringer (attendance) Exit Visa 3. Teaching - limited lecture (10:2, RATIO, brain GYM, energizers, how to regain student attention strategies ) 4. Learning - student activity (group / individual, writing) 5. Formative Assessment - (Taste the soup as cooking) 6. Closure - (Exit visa, #summary, Kahoot, Google doc, mini quiz, cold call) (Marzano;Class Ins. that Works, Fisher&frye;Better Learning, Hattie;Visible Learning, Hunter, Lemov;TLC)

Non-negotiables #6 Hallway Routines 1. No hallway pass first and last 10 min 2. Bathroom pass MS use punch bi-weekly card HS use laminated hallway passes & sign in sheets Pass restriction used, in case of misuse of passes 3. Running in the hallway - 2DP 4. More than 10 min considered - cutting class -2 DP

Non-negotiables # 7 Grading Policies Quarterly Benchmark 30% (5%-20%-5%) Performance based assessment with make-up /correction assessment opportunities Other performance based assessments 30% Unit quizzes,test or projects, Regents* Classwork, Homework 30% Cooperative Learning, Independent Participation 10% * 10% of the overall GPA will be from regent scores- LE, Alg, Glob, US, Eng, Geo, ES **Grades must be updated by Monday on SIS!!!

UAS CLASSROOM NON-NEGOTIABLES PLANNING AND PROFESSIONALISM

Non-negotiables Curriculum and Lesson Plan Create/Revise online curriculum units on Atlas NYS & Common-Core Standards Alignment UbD Unit Plan Format Lesson Plans (UAS format) uploaded on resources tab under Atlas Login on Atlas periodically for necessary revisions and uploads on unit and lesson plans

Non-negotiables Substitute Teacher Folder Schedule & additional daily duties 1. Seating Chart 2. Attendance Sheet 3. Fire Drill directions 4. Emergency Lesson Plans & Master Copies of Lesson Materials - must 6. Main Office Ext. / DOS Ext. 7. Submit to Main Office by Sep 7, 2016

Non-negotiables AES Folder Every teacher is required to create a folder to use by the AES instructor. This folder will include: Five to ten skill-based lessons. Teachers should update folder as needed. AES Teachers are expected to stop by AES room for a 5 min mini lesson Students will receive credit for assignments completed in AES. Submit to Main Office by Sep 12, 2016
