Admission and Course Duration Eligibility for Admission to MBBS Degree 1. Qualifying Examination A candidate seeking admission to first MBBS course: 1. Shall have passed two years Pre University examination conducted by Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka state, with English as one of the subject, and physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually also. 2. Shall have passed any other examination conducted by Boards/Councils/Intermediate Education established by State Governments/Central Government and recognized as equivalent to two year Pre- University examination by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences/Association of Indian University (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually. 3. Shall have passed intermediate examination in Science of an Indian University/Board/Council of other recognized examining bodies with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, which shall include a practical test in these subjects and also English as compulsory subject. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually. 4. Shall have passed first year if the three year degree course of a recognized University with physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in these subjects provided the examination in an University Examination provided that the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually in the pre university or other examinations mentioned in the clauses above. 5. Shall have passed B.Sc Examination of an Indian University, provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc Examination with not less than two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology) provided the candidate has passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually in the qualifying examinations mentioned in clauses (a), (b) and (c). Note: Candidates who have Passed Physical Sciences instead of Physics and Chemistry as two separate subjects are not eligible for admission to MBBS course as per Medical Council of India Regulation vide letter MCI- 37(2)/2001/Med.922 dated 14.02.2001 and RGUHS letter UA/ELY-115/1998-2000 dated 22.05.2001 z 1

The selection of students to medical colleges shall be based on merit provided that: a) In case of admission on the basis of qualifying examination, a candidate for admission to MBBS course must have passed individually in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying examination, in respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes of Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 50& as above. b) In case of admission on the basis of competitive entrance examination, a candidate must have passed individually in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together at the qualifying examination and in addition must have come in the merit list prepared as a result of such competitive entrance examination by securing not less than 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in the competitive examination. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination be 40% instead of 50% as state above. (Vide amendment to MCI Regulations, 1997 notified in Gazette of Government of India Dated 29.05.1999). Age: The candidates should have completed 17 years on or before 31 st day of December of the year of admission. A. Diploma in Child Health (DCH) B. Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynecology (DGO) C. Diploma in Oto-Rhino-Laryngology (DLO) D. Diploma in Ophthalmology (DO) E. Diploma in Orthopedics (D.Ortho) F. Diploma in Anesthesiology (DA) G. Diploma in Clinical Pathology (DCP) H. Diploma in Microbiology (D. Micro) I. Diploma in Public Health (D.Ph) J. Diploma in Forensic Medicine (DFM) K. Diploma in Dermatology, Venerology and Leprosy (DDVL) L. Diploma in Psychiatry (DPM) M. Diploma in Radio-Diagnosis (DMRD) N. Diploma in Radiotherapy (DMRT) O. Eligibility for Admission MD/MS Degree and Diploma Courses: A candidate who has passed MBBS examination after pursuing a study in a medical college recognized by the Medical Council of India, from a recognized Medical College affiliated to any other University recognized as equivalent thereto, and has completed one year compulsory rotating internship in a teaching Institution or other Institution recognized by the Medical Council of India, and has obtained permanent registration of any State Medical Council shall be eligible for admission. Obtaining Eligibility Certificate by the University before making admission. Eligibility certificate issued by the University is a pre requisite for approval of admission to any Post-Graduate Degree/Diploma courses unless the candidate has passed the qualifying examination in the Karnataka Pre University Board (for UG) and this University (for PG Degree/ Diploma). The candidate has to make an application in the prescribed format downloadable from the University website www.rguhs.ac.in/ or apply online to the university with the following documents along with the prescribed fee: A. MBBS degree certificate issued by the University. B. Marks cards of all the university examination passed MBBS course C. Attempt certificate issued by the Principal.( For PG) D. Certificate regarding the recognition of the medical college by the medical council of India. E. Completion of internship certificate. F. Permanent Registration by any state Medical Council and G. Proof of SC/ST or Category I, issued by Karnataka Revenue authorities as the case may be. Candidate should obtain the Eligibility Certificate before the last date for admission as notified by the university. D.M and M.Ch Courses D.M: Candidate seeking admission for D.M courses in any subject must possess recognized degree of MD (or its equivalent recognized degree) in the subject specified in the regulation of the Medical Council of India from time to time. M.Ch: Candidate seeking admission for M.Ch course in any subject must possess recognized degree of MS (or its equivalent recognized degree) in the subject specified in the regulation of the Medical Council of India from time to time. Eligibility for Admission BDS Degree 1. Qualifying Examination A candidate seeking admission to first BDS course: a) Shall have passed the two years Pre-University Examination of Pre-University Board of Karnataka with English and Physics Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually* also b) Shall have passed any other examination conducted by Boards/Councils/Intermediate Education established by State Governments/ Central Government and recognized as equivalent to two year Pre University examination by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences/Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually c) Shall have passed Intermediate examination in Science of an Indian University/Board/Council or other recognized examining bodies with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, which shall include a practical test in these subjects and also English as compulsory subject. The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually. d) Shall have passed pre- professional/ pre- medical examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology, after passing either the higher secondary school examination. The pre-professional/ pre- medical examination shall include a practical test in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and also English as compulsory subject. e) Shall have passed first year of the three year degree course of a recognized University with Physics, Chemistry and Biology including a practical test in these subjects provided the Examination is an 'University Examination' provided that the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually in the pre university or other examinations mentioned in the clauses above. f) Shall have passed B.Sc. Examination of an Indian University, provided that he/she has passed the B.Sc. examination with not less than two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology) provided the candidate has passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually in the qualifying examinations mentioned in clauses (a), (b) and. 2. Age Requirement: The candidate shall have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete this age on 31st December of the year in which he/she seeks admission. 5

INDIAN FIGN NRI/OCI/ PIO SARRC 2000/- 3000/- 40000/- 40000/- 10000/- 10000/- 10000/- 10000/- Post Graduate Dental Degree and Diploma Courses A candidate for admission to the MDS course (Master of Dental Surgery) must have 1. recognized degree if BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) awarded by an Indian University in respect of recognized Dental College under Section 10(2) of the Dentists Act, 1948 or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Dental Council of India and should have obtained permanent registration with the Sate Dental Council. 2. Candidates not possessing a recognized Dental Qualification for the above purpose should secure the prior approval of his qualifications by the Dental Council of India before he can be admitted to the MDS Courses of any University in India. 3. Qualification for the above purpose should secure the prior approval of his qualifications by the Dental Council of India before he can be admitted to the MDS Courses of any University in India. 4. Candidates who possess PG Diploma recognized by the DCI with the duration of 2 years (proposed) in particular specialty is eligible for admission in MDS in the same specialty and the duration will be of 2 years. The syllabus of two years programmed will be as per the concerned university guidelines. 5. Provided that in the case if foreign national, the Dental Council of India may, on payment of the prescribed fee for registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the postgraduate training restricted to the dental college / institution to which he is admitted for the time being exclusively for postgraduate studies. Provided that further temporary registration to such foreign national shall be subject to the condition that such person is duly registered as dental practitioner in his own country from which he has obtained his basic dental qualification and that his degree is recognized by the corresponding dental council of concerned authority. 6

The candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually also. Preference will be given to candidates knowing Sanskrit. ** ii) Shall have passed any other examination conducted by Boards/Councils/Intermediate Education established by State Governments/ Central Government and recognized as equivalent to two year Pre University examination by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences/Association of Indian Universities (AIU), with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and the candidate shall have passed subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology individually. iii) The candidates who have passed the B.Sc Part- I degree examination of any University or equivalent examination conducted by statutory Universities or Boards with Science subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany & Zoology and secured not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate are eligible for admission to I BAMS Course, provided the candidate has passed the PUC examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as one of the languages. b).qualifying Marks: The selection of students to medical colleges shall be based on merit provided that: In case of admission on the basis of qualifying examination, a candidate for admission to BAMS course must have passed individually in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the qualifying examination (2nd PUC). In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward Classes the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together in qualifying examination and competitive entrance examination is 40% instead of 50% as stated above. c).age Requirement: The candidate should have completed 17 years on or before 31st day of December of the year of admission. Amendment to revised Ordinance Governing BAMS Course Notification, Dated 19/09/2006 Admission Qualification:- 1. Student must have passed two years P UC examination or nay other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with English as one of the languages and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects with not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate of the relevant Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) of the Second year P UC examination only are eligible for admission to BAMS Course. (the words Preference will be given to candidates knowing Sanskrit is deleted) 2. The candidate who have passed the B Sc part-1 DEGREE EXAMINATION OF ANY University or equivalent examination conducted by statutory University or Boards with Science subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Botany & Zoology and secured not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate are eligible for admission to 1 BAMS Course, provided the candidate has passed the PUC examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as one of the languages. 3. Candidates who have passed B Sc examination of any University in India or recognized as equivalent thereto with any three (3) Science subjects with not less than 50% of marks in the aggregate are eligible for admission to BAMS Course. Provided they have passed in the deficient Science subject(s) namely- Physics, Chemistry, or Biology (Botany & Zoology), and English as one of the languages at the Pre University or B Sc part- 1 level. 4. However in the case of students belong to SC/ST and Category -1, the minimum requirement in percentage of marks for admission to BAMS Course is relaxed by 10% marks. Criteria for admission Persons holding degree/ diploma in Unani system of Medicine of not less than 4 years duration from a recognized institution included in IInd schedule if Indian Medicine Central Council Act 1970 and in enrolled in state register of ISM are eligible for Post- graduate course in Unani. The candidates will be called for competitive written test on basis of academic records in under-graduate course. Test shall consist of two papers. Age The candidate should have completed 17 years of age on or before 31 st day of December of the year of admission to join the course. Duration of the course Pharm.D. The duration of the course shall be six academic years (five years of study and one year of internship or residency)full time with each academic year spread over a period of not less than two hundred working days. In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes of Other Backward Classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English taken together in qualifying examination be not less than 40% instead of 45% as above. 2. Criteria for pass Basic B.Sc (Nursing) Degree course. Criteria for pass: A candidate has to fulfill the following criteria: For declaration of pass in any subjects in the university examinations, a candidate shall pass both in theory and practical/clinical examinations, a candidate shall pass both in theory and practical/clinical examinations components separately as stipulated below: The theory component consists of marks obtained in university written papers (s) and internal assessment (theory). Should have passed two years Pre University examination conducted by Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka State, with English as one of the subjects and Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects.
