THE SCHOOL Lambrook is an award-winning independent day and boarding preparatory school for 530 girls and boys set in a stunning 52 acre estate in Berkshire. Lambrook offers excellence in independent education and attracts, develops and inspires some of the country s best teaching talent. PROVEN TRACK RECORD In our recent inspection, Lambrook was rated `excellent in every area examined from the quality of pupils achievements in learning, provision of boarding and extra-curricular activities, through to the care we provide to our pupils. Lambrook was awarded School of the Year 2016 by Tatler.

A DISTINCTIVE APPROACH The school is a forward-thinking yet traditional school with a strong family ethos. Founded in 1860, the school has a rich history of success and is proud of its reputation as one of the leading prep schools in the country. Over the years, a number of facilities have been added including a well-equipped Science and IT block, a new Pre Prep building, an all-weather pitch and a senior classroom block built around a refurbished squash court. In February 2013, doors opened to a state of the art Performing Arts Centre and this was followed by a complete renovation of a classroom block to add additional teaching areas to cater for our healthy pupil numbers. A new 25m indoor swimming pool opened in 2015 to further enhance the existing range of outstanding facilities at Lambrook. THE FUTURE CANDIDATE SEARCH Lambrook has an outstanding track record in preparing its pupils for the top senior schools in the country. Lambrook is looking to appoint an energetic and committed individual to lead our thriving Girls boarding house. Accommodation linked to the boarding house is provided. A strong boarding and pastoral care team is in place and the extensive facilities and grounds make for a wonderful place for children to grow and learn. Experience of teaching Girls Games would be an advantage although not essential. The school has ambitious plans for the future and a 6m new building project is just about to take place and will be completed by September 2018. It includes new sports changing rooms, Art and DT departments and additional classrooms.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. To be responsible for the supervision and care of the children in Lambrook Boarding House. 2. To ensure there is a responsible adult in the house at all times after 6.30pm, that any alternative arrangements are approved by the Head of Boarding and that all pupils are aware who is on duty at any time. 3. To attend breakfast on duty days. 4. To help and support all boarding events. 5. To ensure the National Minimum Standards for Boarding Schools are met to the highest possible standards. 6. To liaise with the surgery to ensure that pupils medical requirements are properly catered for; to encourage pupils to adopt a healthy life style. 7. To communicate with the Head of Boarding on boarding issues. 8. To attend house boarding staff meetings once a week. 9. To perform any other tasks which the Headmaster may reasonably assign. 10. To oversee the logistics of boarding. 11. To support the school s disciplinary policy and, by encouragement and reward and by a clearly understood and fair system of sanctions, foster an acceptance of the code of conduct of the house and school; to inform the Head of Boarding in any severe case of bullying, substance misuse or sexual misconduct. 12. To actively promote the School s anti-bullying policy. 13. To counsel pupils at a time and place which is conducive to good communication concerning any emotional, academic, social or behavioural problems they may have; to liaise with the Head of Boarding. 14. To communicate with parents, to ensure that they are fully informed about their child s progress and welfare; to ensure that family incidents and problems are brought to the attention of those who need to know. 15. To ensure the safety and security (including emotional) of all pupils and being responsible for all risk assessments to do with the house; 16. To ensure that the individual circumstances, needs, strengths and weaknesses of each pupil are identified and known by staff as needed, so that individual opportunities, talents and potential are developed and maximised. 17. To be responsible for tutors, matrons and cleaners in your house and liaise with their heads of department. 18. To be aware of the academic strengths and weaknesses of pupils; to liaise with form teachers to ensure that relevant background circumstances of pupils are known and discussed. 19. To develop in the pupils a collective responsibility to be aware of the difficulties or problems of others, and to offer such support and help for each other as is appropriate. 20. To ensure that a full and varied program of extra-curricular activities is available, and pupils (particularly younger ones) are appropriately occupied. 21. To look after boarders pocket money and keep appropriate records. 22. The day to day management of the boarding house in terms of Health and Safety and being responsible for all risk assessments to do with the house. 23. Oversee the maintenance, decoration and improvements to the fabric of the house, as well as to its fittings and furnishings in conjunction with the Head of Boarding.

SCHOOL AIMS Lambrook School endeavours to lay the foundations for our pupils future success and prepare them for the senior school of their choice and life beyond. The Application Process Applicants are asked to provide the Headmaster with a letter of application (no more than two sides of A4). The letter of application should offer a personal insight into the skills and aspirations of the candidate. Applications will only be accepted from candidates completing the enclosed Application Form in full with an accompanying photograph. The successful applicant will be required to undergo Enhanced Disclosure clearance (DBS) from the Criminal Records Bureau. If you are currently working with children on either a paid or voluntary basis, your current employer will be asked about disciplinary offences, including disciplinary offences relating to children or young persons (whether the disciplinary sanction is current or time expired), and whether you have been the subject of any child protection allegations or concerns and, if so, the outcome of any enquiry or disciplinary procedure. If you are not currently working with children, but have done so in the past, that previous employer will be asked about these issues. Where neither your current nor your previous employment has involved working with children, your current employer will still be asked about your suitability to work with children, although they may, where appropriate, answer not applicable if your duties have not brought you into contact with children or young persons. You should be aware that provision of false information is an offence and could result in the application being rejected or in summary dismissal, if the applicant has been selected, and possible referral to the police and/or the Department for Education Children s Safeguarding Operation Unit. Invitation to Interview If you are invited to interview, this will be conducted in person and the areas which it will explore will include suitability to work with children. References will be requested before interview unless there is a valid reason not to do so. All candidates invited to interview must bring documents confirming any professional qualifications that are necessary or relevant for the post (e.g. the original or certified copy of certificates, diplomas, etc). Where originals or certified copies are not available for the successful candidate, written confirmation of the relevant qualifications must be obtained from the awarding body. All candidates invited to interview must also bring with them three forms of identification. Either three from Group A or two from Group A and one from Group B: Group A A current driving licence together with paper licence, A passport, A full birth certificate, Marriage certificate (if applicable). Group B A utility bill or financial statement showing the candidate s current name and address (dated within the last three months). Where appropriate, any documentation evidencing a change of name. Please note that originals of the above are necessary. Photographs or certified copies are not sufficient.

Pre-Appointment Checks Any offer to a successful candidate will be conditional upon: Verification of identity and qualifications A check at the Department for Education List 99 and the Protection of Children Act List, as appropriate A satisfactory DBS Enhanced Disclosure Verification of professional status, such as GTC registration, QTS status (where required), NPQH Verification of the successful completion of a statutory induction period (applies to those who obtained QTS after 7 May 1999) Where the successful candidate has worked or been resident overseas in the previous five years, such checks and confirmations as the School may require in accordance with statutory guidance Verification of medical fitness in accordance with the Department of Education Circular 4/99 Physical and Mental Fitness to Teach of Teachers and Entrants to Initial Teacher Training Satisfactory completion of the probationary period. SALARY & BENEFITS The school has its own generous salary scale and is a member of the Teachers Pension Scheme. A generous package commensurate with experience will be awarded to the successful candidate. If the candidate has children of Prep school age a Fee remission is available. A self-contained one bedroom flat is provided within the student boarding houses for this fully residential post. In term time all meals are available in the School s dining room. The post will be extended to a maximum of 5 years with an initial 12 month probation period.
