Existing faculty members working in Business Schools/Universities in the same fields and planning to initiate doctoral studies in near future may also participate. Doctoral students, interested to participate in this symposium, are requested to submit an abstract of not more than 500 words based on their Doctoral works. A formal research output consists of several distinct but interlinked components that begins with identification of a research problem, looking for some tentative answers to them from the existing knowledge base, applying rigorous methodological tools -- quantitative, qualitative or mix -- to test whether those answers are tenable or not, and thereby reaching a conclusion. The process once complete, contributes new set of knowledge to the existing stock. Keeping in mind these distinct phases, the symposium is designed to have five themes each being allotted a full session. They are: 5

Problematizing/Theorizing the Research Issue: Rationale of the Study Streamlining the Research Issue with Existing Researches in the Area: Literature Review Formulating Research Questions and Linking them with Research Objectives Choice of Apposite Methodologies: Quantitative/Qualitative/Mixed/ Case Study Methods. Data Sources and Analytical Techniques Intending participants are advised to submit an abstract suitable for presentation in a session devoted to any of the themes mentioned above. The session intended for presentation should clearly be marked at the top of the page. Participants may submit multiple abstracts for presentation in more than one sessions of their choice. Submission Guidelines Submissions are to be in Microsoft Office Word format (12 Font, Times New Roman, 1 all round margin with 1.15 space between lines, 0.5 indenting of first sentence of paragraph) through E-mail marked to drs.sbs@sharda.ac.in. Best four entries on each theme will be selected and the concerned scholar will be invited to make presentations. Three Minute Thesis Competition It has been observed that doctoral research scholars find it difficult to communicate their research idea comprehensively in short amount of time. Normally, this is considered as lack of understanding of the research issues or inability to demonstrate research works. In view of that, three-minute thesis competition will be organized during the second day of the symposium. The idea behind the competition is to test the researcher s communication skills and capabilities to convey his/her research issues and findings in as comprehensive and non-technical manner as possible to a general audience who are not necessarily aware of the technicalities of the issue at hand. To participate in three-minute thesis completion separate entries are invited from the doctoral research scholars in management across the management schools in India.
