Directions for the NWI Non-Traditional Student Scholarship Application The application must be typed the downloadable PDF file can be completed on a computer and printed. Additional paper may be attached to complete a response, if necessary. Eligibility Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen. Applicant must have graduated from a high school in Lake County, Indiana. Applicant must reside in Northwest Indiana. Applicant must currently be enrolled as an undergraduate student at IUN or PUC. Applicant must have completed a minimum of twelve (12) undergraduate credit hours at IUN or PUC. Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Applicant must not be the recipient of any other scholarship awards, grants, or tuition reimbursement. Applicant must not have attended any university classes within four (4) years of high school graduation. Transcripts An official copy of your most recent transcript is required and must be attached to your application. Recommendations Two recommendations letters are required: from a professor at your attended university; and, from someone familiar with your work experience, academics, activities, achievements, goals, etc. University Enrollment All scholarship applications must have a minimum of twelve (12) undergraduate credit hours completed at the time of application, possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and be in good standing with the university. All scholarship recipients are required to successfully complete fifteen (15) credit hours per calendar year (includes fall, spring and/or summer sessions). Failure to enroll in school or to complete fifteen (15) credit hours per calendar year will terminate your Jim and Betty Dye NWI Non-Traditional Student Scholarship. Scholarship Award The scholarship award is for one-half (1/2) tuition per semester for undergraduate tuition only. Recipient will be responsible for the other one-half (1/2) tuition and other fees such as books, transportation, parking, health and activity fees. The university will bill the Foundation directly after the add/drop period of the semester and all refunds are paid back to the Foundation. If recipient has received or will be receiving other scholarships, the Jim and Betty Dye NWI Non-Traditional Student Scholarship will be revoked. Receipt of applications is not a guarantee a scholarship will be awarded each semester. The number of scholarships awarded is based upon the number and quality of applications, current number of awards in progress, and budgeting requirements. Scholarship Renewal Scholarships are automatically renewable on a semester-to-semester basis. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 system and successfully complete an average of fifteen (15) credit hours per calendar year to maintain eligibility for their Scholarship. Provided all eligibility requirements are met, the scholarship will continue in effect until graduation or one hundred twenty (120) credit hours have been achieved, whichever occurs first. Application Deadline Applications must be submitted to the Foundation s Office by June 1 st to be considered for the upcoming fall semester and by November 1 st to be considered for the upcoming spring semester. Applications will not be considered for a summer semester start. Incomplete applications may be rejected.

Financial Aid / Transcript Authorization Letter Please allow this letter to serve as authorization for the Office of Financial Assistance to release financial aid information and bursar information and for the Office of the Registrar to release transcripts to the James W. and Betty Dye Foundation for the duration of my studies at.
