Rob Schorry has put his name in for Secretary. President - tasked with organizing meetings, scheduling of meetings and maintaining contact with IPMS/USA and area clubs. VP - helps president with these same tasks and can substitute in formers place if needed. Secretary - takes minutes of meetings and keeps records of club events. Treasurer - responsible for keeping club financial records and maintaining club banking records We will also make the March 4th meeting a Build Day, so bring a kit to work on! That extended meeting will start at 1 PM, but business won t happen until 3 PM Thanks to a motion made by Mark Statt if you are eighty years of age or older, your club membership is for life and is free! [ I have 23 years to wait Rob S. ] 1
The May meeting will be held on Sunday May 6, not the 13 th, so as not to interfere with Mother s Day. Oct. 13, 2012 CSM Contest and Show - Mark the Day! IPMS and Great Oaks / Scarlet Oaks School in Sharonville, OH have let us nail the date down. We had a rousing discussion about the show and have agreed that a very modest price increase for show goers is in order. New fees are: Adult - $5 for 1 to 3 entries and $10 unlimited model entries, Juniors - $3 unlimited entries. General admission - $4 for big people; 12 and under are free! For the donuts and coffee table at the contest, rather than being free, we will ask for a small donation. The raffle table at the show will be located so those entering will get a face full of raffle for better ticket sales, we hope. Membership Renewal Annual Cincinnati Scale Modelers membership fees are $15. If you are a club member and have not renewed this please see Mike Bailey and ask if he will take your money for another year. Sad News We received word in January that Douglas Kent passed away in December 2010. We got this news from the man who bought his house in June 2011. I think Doug was in his early 80s at the time of his death and had a son and a daughter. He was another of the many Cincinnati Milacron folk (like me) and worked on grinders. He built great models and was a really nice guy. For a couple years at our annual model contest we worked as judges together and he had a keen eye, sharp mind, and was very friendly. He was quiet, gentle, and had a great sense of humor. One modeler asked him at our annual contest to review his model and Doug did so with patient care, pointing out every flaw, yet also praised the builder on everything that was well done. I remember Doug winning kits in raffles and sometimes giving them to Mike Bailey for the Iraq/Afghanistan donations or to the youngsters with us at the meetings. A good guy gone to that giant model shop in the sky. - Rob Schorry Matt Davis, Jim Jenny, Doug Kent, and Tom Bebout (L-R) 2
CSM Website - Steve Stohrs of NA Hobbies built the club a new website in 2010. We thank Steve for all his hard work! His business site: http://www.nahobbiesestore.com Dave Reed is currently doing website upkeep! Some photos from our January meeting pictures by Rob Schorry 3

Weather Note: With old man Winter nearly upon us, if, on our appointed meeting day there is a weather event (blizzard, freezing rain, earthquake, moonquake, hurricane, flood, drought, etc.) the club officers will evaluate if the meeting should be held. And yes, I know, some of you must be changing your email addresses every month, but please try to keep the club up to date. Ok? If the decision is to order a wave off (cancel the meeting) we will make attempt by phone or email to contact you. Don t want anyone venturing out on a crummy day! = = = My wife and I made a trip to New Orleans, LA in early January (something about a little football game called the Sugar Bowl?). We visited the National World War II Museum as well as a few other things. The picture below* is a teaser, but I plan to get my pics up on the club website. - Rob Schorry * The newest Higgins Boat (LCVP) in the world. Built from original plans in 1999 by volunteers. 5
