Course Objectives This is a summary of the objectives for level B2. A comprehensive list can be found in the Common European Framework of Reference. The objectives describe what a participant should be able to do in the language at the end of a level B2 course. Listening Comprehension (LC) Able to understand the gist of extended speech and lectures and partially follow even complex lines of argument provided the topic is reasonably familiar. Able to understand the gist of most TV news and current affairs programmes. Able to partially understand the majority of films in standard dialect. Reading Comprehension (RC) Able to understand the gist of articles and reports concerned with contemporary problems in which the writers adopt particular attitudes or viewpoints. Able to understand the gist of contemporary literary prose. Spoken Interaction (SI) Able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers possible, but laboured. Able to take an active, but limited, part in discussion in familiar contexts, accounting for and sustaining views. Spoken Production (SP) Able to present clear, detailed descriptions on a limited range of subjects related to a personal field of interest. Able to express a limited viewpoint on a topical issue with some attempt at giving the advantages and disadvantages of the various options. Written Production/Interaction (WP/WI) Able to write clear, detailed text with few errors on a restricted range of subjects related to personal and professional interests. Able to write simple letters highlighting the personal significance of events and experiences.
