Mrs Jen Cooke is teaching these instruments this year. Next term, another group of students from stage one will venture into the string family as well. Individual tuition on various instruments is also available at OCS. If you would like your child to access these private tuition lessons, please contact the front office for more information.

Prep News Making Easter hats for the Easter Concert and Parade The children have had a wonderful time making their Easter Hats. They learnt that in order to make an Easter Hat, they needed to follow a step by step procedure. Step One: Tear paper which is used to paper-mâché the base. Step Two: Paint the base. Step Three: Decorate the hat. By using a variety of craft materials, the children sorted, matched, cut and joined, poked, glued and rolled items as they worked together sharing ideas and offering suggestions to each other. Making the hats required perseverance and time. They discovered that paper can be used as a malleable modelling material as well as for drawing and painting.

Now for the big decision...what dance style should we use when we parade the hats? Should we Raise The Roof Or do The Snake? Maybe The Piano? But The Cabbage Patch is fun. The Prep Easter Hat Parade and Concert is on Thursday 6 th April at 10 am. Come and see what dance style the Prep children decide to use.

Sports Coaching Session Sports Coaching Session with Jeremy Wallace Last Tuesday Jeremy Wallace came and ran our after school sports coaching session. More than 20 students came and received instruction from Jeremy on all aspects of sprinting. Jeremy kindly gave us his time and skills to run the session but coaching athletics is his full time passion and he has several local athletes competing at a national level. If you would like to find out about the possibility of further developing your sprinting skills. Jeremy runs sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 4 to 5 pm at the Emu's grounds near school. Bookings and more info available through RPT Orange 63604442.

To enable S2M to stretch out we have decided to move the classrooms asap. WHEN: On the last day of term WHERE: Year 6 (S3C) will move into H2 in the Middle School area S2F will move into D1 (Year 6 s room) S2M will move into C2 (S2F s room) Leaving C1 as the third classroom for Stage 2

What to do in the holidays... Enjoy these couple of weeks to simply recoup as a family. Start the day slowly, if possible. Spend time together just enjoying one another s company. Help your child to feel loved and special. RELAX & SLEEP-IN But have you thought about continuing the important Literacy and Numeracy skills that your child has been learning this term? Holiday Contract I d like to suggest that you use a Daily Contract System. Start the day with: Make your bed Have breakfast Clean teeth, etc Read for 20 minutes Practice counting to 100 (or further) Use a Journal to record what you do Take photos of what you do this morning OR this afternoon Put these photos into a Journal about your holiday Write a description or report about your day Bible Reading Plan Spend some time each day reading the Bible with your child. There are some great Bible Reading Plans easily available, if you would like to investigate further.

Enjoy the holidays! Term 2 begins on Monday 24 April, 2017
