Athletic Advisory Committee November 18, 2013 3:30 PM Minutes Present: Josh Holt, Steve Husebye, Donna MacDonald, Scott Pennington, Allison Rehbaum, Alissa Sustarsic, Jason Trantham, Melanie Wagner, Mike Matulia, Tammie Drunasky Absent: Debra Dabney, Cindy Lackey, Virginia Leach, Patti Weasel 1. Approval of Spring Minutes: Reviewed Athletic Advisory Committee Meeting minutes. Melanie Wagner motioned to approve the minutes, Allison Rehbaum seconded and they passed unanimously. 2. Highlights 12/13: Disseminated and reviewed. There were two Academic All-Americans and two inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society. Dr. Katherine Urquhart was voted by the student-athletes as Professor of the Year. 3. Community Service: Disseminated and reviewed the different projects and events our studentathletes participated in. 4. Annual Plan Indicators of Effectiveness C1: Student-Athletes complete graduation requirements within two-years Athletic Advising Guide, located on the Athletics Webpage to assist studentathletes with completion of their degree On-line new student orientation requirement, prior to academic advising meeting C3: Concussion management policies and procedures developed and implemented Baseline concussion testing, utilizing impact testing tool; required for all student-athletes Athletic Department will maintain all baseline test results and utilize NATA protocol for concussion events 5. FCSAA Section 16 Report: Disseminated and compared to conference and state results. 6. Student-Athlete Code of Conduct (revised): Disseminated and reviewed changes. 7. Fundraising Golf Tournament: Total amount raised after expenses was $30,000. There was great feedback on the student-athletes from the golfers. There were two new sponsors this year: Marian S. Shuck Scholarship Trust and Roy & Ruth Ryan Foundation, Inc. 8. Lakehawk Roundup: Held on November 14 th in conjunction with Student Life provided several different games and contests for everyone to participate in including soccer sponsored by Phi Theta Kappa. The great turnout of students also enjoyed food, t-shirts and prizes. 9. Progress reports: Progress reports are receiving a great number of responses from professors with secured email and Blackboard combined with the paper progress reports.
