Immaculate Conception School North Little Rock, Arkansas Falcon Forum February 2019 Volume 5, Issue 6 Letter from your PTO Board Greetings, Parents! We are one month in on our New Year Resolutions and 2019. How are you faring? Are you standing firm? Did you have to make adjustments? I read a thought-provoking meme recently, and thought I would share. Do not pray for easy lives; pray to be stronger Men and Women. Together we can stand resolute, and the PTO is cooking up some fun ways to get together! Mark your calendars for these upcoming treats! 3/9- Ladies Night Bingo 4/6 - Trivia Night Thank you for supporting IC PTO; together we make IC Great! Jonathan Niotis PTO President Third grade was the spotlight class for January. They raised money to help the Bee Guys of The Van buy not one but two brand-new bee suits. The Van is part of The One, an organization dedicated to assisting the homeless of central Arkansas. Awesome job, third grade!

In fourth grade religion, the students recently completed a unit on making good choices. They learned that bad choices bind us in a yoke of slavery to sin. With their parents help, the students looked up Bible passages that explain how following God s laws can free us from slavery to sin and lead us to true freedom. Find our poster by the school office that shows the keys to freedom. Mrs. Roca Sixth grade survived Catholic Schools Week!! What an action-packed week full of fun and celebration. We are all so blessed to be a part of this Catholic School community! The 6th grade science fair is officially underway. Topics have been turned in, and we are working on our problem statements!! Stay tuned as the projects start to take shape! In reading class, both 6A and 6B are journeying through Narnia while reading C.S. Lewis s classic novel, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. And in social studies, we re learning Egyptian mythology and hieroglyphics. In the music room we are getting ready for the IC School Spring Concert! It will be held Sunday, March 10th after the 10:30 Mass. Watch for more information to come home after Catholic Schools Week. Also, let's give a special shout out to all of the Talent Show contestants who worked so hard to perform for us. What an amazing job they did! Finally, thank you to the Beta Club and Student Government for helping out with the Open House. You represented IC beautifully! Some students even started a band and performed throughout the school! Dr. Tyson Kindergarten is 100 days smarter!

We are fabulous in fifth grade! We can t believe we are halfway through the school year!! We are reading our new novel, Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, and learning a great deal about what life was like after the Great Depression and segregation in the south. It has been a real eye opener for our students and they have handled it with grace and maturity which we are very proud of. Catholic Schools Week is going to be AMAZING!!! We can t wait to see the hair, outfits and most of all the special memories the kids will have and keep from that week of school. We are so blessed to be able to celebrate our Catholic School together. Hello from the art room! All classes have been very busy making fabulous art! We have been creating our own graphs in math, studying ecology in science, continuing AR and Storyworks in reading, and learning about the amendments in social studies This week we are celebrating Catholic Schools Week and enjoying every minute of it! PK3 have been busy this month lear ning about the numbers five and six as well as the letters E and F. We are having fun wrapping up the month of January with Catholic Schools Week activities.
