"Friends forever, learning together" No. 19.2017 Immaculate Heart of Mary School Newsletter Thursday 16th November Our Mission Statement St Mary s School is a Catholic School for the children of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish. St Mary s is a place where relationships are prized in the Spirit of the Josephite tradition. Under the inspiration of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop, we are committed to the belief where everyone is treated with fairness and has the opportunity for a quality education in a faith filled environment.

Hello everyone, May I firstly send a belated congratulations to everyone who was involved in the organisation and the running of the Fete this year. A massive thankyou to everyone involved. A mammoth effort was put in before, during and after the event, by staff and parents all around and a wonderful total raised. The school will be using this money along with other funds that have been raised by the Parents and Friends Association throughout the year to purchase technology and computers suitable for the teaching of ICT and digital technologies. Over the past few weeks staff have volunteered their time to take part in a consultative committee to assist the leadership team in the task of class structures and specialist subjects for 2018. In alignment with the Victorian Curriculum from 2018 Prep will be known as Foundation. It is the foundation year of school. All other classes are referred to as Year levels due to the number of years a child has attended school. 2018 class structures and teachers Foundation/Year 1 Mrs Michelle Hale / Mrs Carrie Schembri Miss Chloe Haesler Year 1/2 Mrs Irene Bramstedt / Mrs Betsy Brown Mrs Helen Procak Year 3/4 Mrs John Aliotta Mrs Jasmin Prestidge Year 5/6 Mrs Cathy Colaciello / Mrs Catherine Griffiths Mrs Nicole Skinner / Mrs Emma Anderson Foundation, Years 1 and 2 will all be located in the Open area; Years 3/4 will be where they are currently and Years 5/6 will be located in the rooms currently occupied by Italian and Science. Specialist subjects for 2018 Science Italian First Semester ICT Second Semester ARTS Mrs Lidia Vincent Mrs Carolina Manuele Mrs Catherine Griffiths Mrs Cathy Colaciello Teachers have worked collaboratively to place students in classes for 2018 based on maximising the learning outcomes for each individual child. If you have any specific concerns or requests please contact me, by email, no later than Friday 28 th November, as class lists will be finalised on this date. Water Safety & Swimming Program Our Water Safety & Swimming Program will commence on Monday 4th December for all students in Foundation to Year 4. Please ensure that permission forms are returned by Monday 20th November, and that the swimming fee of $70.00 is paid to the officer by Friday 1st December. Please note that this program is compulsory, if for some reason your child is not participating you must speak to your child s classroom teacher and let the office know. Thank you. Thank you to Mrs Helen Procak and the student leadership team for representing our school on Remembrance Day at the Newborough RSL. Warmest Regards, Kerry Wadey Page 2
