As sports people within the HE sector Members had an enormous role to play. Sport above anything else crosses boundaries, and Universities are the one place where nations meet and if it is not a safe environment for difficult discussion then nowhere is. A green paper recently published in England would undoubtedly impact on Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. There would be ever more new entrants into the market and greater diversity. Page 1 of 7
The development of the new strategy had been stimulating, and must now be communicated broadly across the sector. We must now be seen to walk the walk as well as talking the talk. An open, inclusive, warm, friendly environment. BUCS had had a good year. There was more to do and room for improvement. The work from the BUCS staff across the whole year had been impressive. The Chair thanked Karen Rothery for her work as CEO over a significant period of time.
