2015-2016 AFTER SCHOOL S QUARTER 4 March 24, 2016 Dear Parents and Guardians: We are excited to announce that beginning Monday, April 4, 2016, Franklin Academy will begin our after school club program for the fourth quarter, which will be available to students in grades K-8. Please note the following guidelines regarding club registration: Club offerings and registration forms are available for download on the Franklin Academy website. Club availability is on a first-come, first-served basis, and space is limited. Payments are accepted in the form of a check or money order only (No online payments). Please submit ONE REGISTRATION FORM PER CHILD. A separate check or money order MUST be submitted for each club and each child. Payment (check or money order) must be stapled to the registration form. The registration form must be completed in its entirety and submitted along with payment by 12:00 PM on Thursday, March 31, 2016. Funds are not transferrable (no club changes after April 4, 2016). There are no refunds after Monday, April 4, 2016. Registration forms that are incomplete or missing information will not be considered. No late registration forms will be accepted NO EXCEPTIONS. The club name and child s name must be written in the memo line of each check or money order. Siblings not enrolled in a club may not wait at school for the club to end. They must be picked up at their regular dismissal time or late pick-up fees will be assessed. There are no clubs on early release days or school holidays. There are no clubs during the last week of the school year. Participation in after school clubs is a privilege. Behavior expectations of students participating in an after school club remain the same as during the regular school day. Students who do not follow the policy will be dismissed from the club and their club fee is non-refundable. Club moderators will contact the parents of those students who will be participating as well as those who will not be participating by Friday, April, 1 2016. Please be advised that parents and guardians will be responsible for picking up their child on the days their club meets, as transportation is not provided. Elementary parents must pick-up their child by 4:00 PM and middle school parents must pick-up their child by 5:00 PM. There will be a $1.00 per minute, per child, charge for late pick-up. Students will be picked up on the east (bus) side of the building for club pick-up. Students picked up late two (2) times from a club will be removed from the club. No refund will be given. We are looking forward to providing your child with a unique opportunity for enrichment!

DESCRIPTIONS QUARTER 4 DESCRIPTION AND GOALS AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE Students will be learning basic American Sign Language and will enrich their knowledge about the Deaf Culture. Students will learn to sign in conversations and through songs as well. ART Students will be able to further develop their skills as an artist in mediums and methods that are not normally done in the classroom. BASKETBALL The basketball club teaches students the basic fundamentals of the game, while focusing on teamwork. The club does this through the use of team building activities. Learning how to work as part of a team is a skill that is useful in all aspects of life! By the end of the club the students understand that basketball is not just about the player who scores the most points; it is about the team as a whole. BON APPÉTIT The Bon Appétit Club is an amazing club that girls and boys enjoy while developing lifelong skills as they learn to prepare snacks, foster healthy habits and create their recipe book. Students might be asked to help with 2-3 ingredients every other week. CHEER The students that participate in this club will learn the foundations and skills of sideline cheering; they will also learn the responsibilities and commitment of being a team player. The students will learn cheers, chants, and basic stunting in a safe and fun environment. CHESS The goal of the Chess Club is to enhance students understanding of the game of chess. Students will learn opening moves, tactics, and endgame strategies to improve their skill levels. Students will compete against one another to improve, and will have the opportunity to participate in weekend chess tournaments against other schools. Chess builds confidence, helps students learn problem-solving strategies, while being fun and exciting. DANCE This club is to help children build body and spatial awareness through energetic dance steps, creative movement and storytelling. This club will foster imagination and collaborative teamwork in a joyful experience. FASHION AND DESIGN CODING The purpose of this club is to learn computer science (coding, programming) concepts in a fun and engaging way. Students learn to code using a visual programming language called Scratch. Students complete a series of projects in which they create their own fashion designs for a digital runway. Students will design using their own color combinations, crate a stylish fashion tool, and learn how technology is used in the fashion industry. In addition, students earn badges as they complete each of the projects. Students are required to bring a set of headphones.

FIRST PRIORITY First Priority is a student led club that provides members the opportunity to grow in their faith and for them to develop into dynamic leaders on the campus and in the community. Students encourage friends to understand the importance of living in relationship with God. Students will increase their self-esteem and moral foundation of self and peers. FLAG FOOTBALL The purpose of the Football Cub is to teach 3-5 grade boys and girls character development, and sportsmanship through the sport of football. Participants will experience a progression of learning that will include a building of individual skills such as throwing, catching, running pass patterns, and safely capturing a runner s flag. Team offensive and defensive concepts will also be taught. GAME DESIGN CODING The purpose of this club is to learn computer science (coding programming) concepts in a fun and engaging way. Students learn to code using a visual programming language called Scratch. Students complete a series of projects in which they create their own video games. Students will design and program their own video games using code and computer science. They will also learn important gaming concepts while building racing games, mazes and other fun games. In addition, students earn badges as they complete each of the projects. Students are required to bring a set of headphones. HARRY POTTER Welcome to the Magical World of Harry Potter! Participate in the hat sorting and join Slytherin, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw. Houses will compete against each other in Harry Potter Trivia Competitions and board games. Magical crafts and potions included. Muggles beware! LEGO Designing their own creations, taking on Lego challenges and building Lego sets are all part of our club. and have fun. Past club builds include: strongest bridge challenge, minifigure zip line, floating vehicle challenge, demolition derby and much more. Engineering concepts, fine motor skills and cooperative group work will be skills that are highlighted. LITTLE CHEFS KITCHEN The Little Chefs Kitchen is an amazing club that children enjoy and can explore creativity as well as develop lifelong skills as they learn to prepare snacks, foster healthy habits and create their recipe book. Students might be asked to help with a 2 or 3 ingredients. MUSIC Come join Music Club! This club is for girls and boys from 2-5 grade wanting to explore the different uses of the voice. The students will be guided to develop proper singing skills through songs and musical techniques. It is the perfect place to discover your musical talents! SOCCER ELEMENTARY Students will get to practice their favorite game with classmates and teacher all taking place in a secure and safe environment.
