About IIM Calcutta: The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM C) was established as the first national institute for Post-Graduate Studies and Research in Management by the Government of India in November 1961, in collaboration with Alfred P. About ICICIdirect Centre for Financial Learning (ICFL): ICICIdirect Centre for Financial Learning is an initiative of ICICI Securities Ltd., set up with an objective of simplifying financial knowledge and increasing financial literacy amongst prospective or experienced investors & knowledge seekers. ICFL training programmes are categorised under Investment Education Programmes and Professional Certification & Development Programmes. The repository of domain knowledge includes a host of in-house developed seminars, workshops, certifications and training programmes leading to reputed certifications. Introduction: The financial world is going through an era of digital transformation. The impact of social media, mobility, big data and machine learning, the Internet of Things, information security and blockchain, and artificial intelligence based robotics is being felt as firms strive to meet the expectations of the new-age millennial customers through digital mastery. Digital change management in the banking and financial services industry and capital markets needs new capabilities in leaders who have the vision to develop novel technological innovation for transforming the world of banking, trading, risk management, customer management and advisory, payments and fraud detection. This programme aims to inspire leaders of firms with the required organisational and technological know-how for creating a novel digital vision for the financial organisations with measurable impact.

Programme Objectives: Key learning objectives: Learn how financial technologies are bringing about a digital transformation. Understand the organisational and technological challenges faced by leaders in driving digital transformation in financial companies. Examine the various global best practices that have been adopted by digital natives and digital innovators of the financial world for creating optimised, flexible processes and transformed products targeting millennial customers. Learn how transformation leaders overcome the challenges of digital transformation through digital mastery in big data analytics and machine learning, mobility, social media, the Internet of Things, blockchain and information security, artificial intelligence based robotics and crowdfunding. Understand how financial firms build a culture of innovation, agility and empowerment. Develop a road-map of digital transformation for a financial organisation. Eligibility: Graduate / Post Graduate from Universities recognised by the Association of Indian Universities. Topics Covered: Digital innovation and disruption in the financial world Creating differentiation in financial services through descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics Big data storage and analysis for financial applications including algorithmic trading Asset and risk management and earnings management through structured and unstructured data analytics Portfolio selection in capital markets using sentiment analysis Mobile technologies and customer engagement in BFSI Advances in payment technologies for ease-of-use and social inclusion Machine learning and social media analytics for detection of financial frauds and rumours Information security for detecting and preventing data breaches and other cybercrime Innovative use of blockchain for distributed ledger applications and cryptocurrencies Artificial intelligence and robo-advisory services Impact of crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending on financial services Who Should Enroll? The programme is designed for those engaged at middle and senior management levels in organisations, and who are keen to create a blueprint for transformation of their company using innovative financial technologies. The course will cover managerial as well as technical content, assuming that participants will play the role of leaders to drive the adoption and usage of financial technologies in their firms.

Pedagogy: This programme will consist of lectures, case studies, and team-based exercises. The lectures will include conceptual knowledge delivery about the topic, and focus on key definitions, foundations, and challenges faced in the use of financial technologies. The lectures will be supplemented with videos, and discussion of current events. This will be followed by a discussion on current business practices and the issues involved in them. To understand the concepts learnt during the lectures better, real-life case studies that focus on Indian companies will be discussed as well. Participants will be prompted to share their knowledge and experience about relevant topics, and come up with meaningful and reasonable decisions to solve the dilemmas faced by the organisations depicted in the case studies. This exercise will tie up concepts related to strategy, execution, management and assessment of financial technologies, and will help participants understand its benefits. Programme Directors: Prof. Indranil Bose is a Full Professor of Management Information Systems at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM-C). Presently he is a co-ordinator for the Case Research Center at IIM-C. He has acted as chairperson of the Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics, co-ordinator of the MIS Group, and Advisor of Analytics at State Bank of India. Previously, he was a faculty member at University of Hong Kong, University of Florida and University of Texas at Arlington. Dr. Bose has extensive teaching, research, consulting and case writing experience in the fields of business analytics, digital technologies, innovation management, and information strategy. His degrees include BTech (Hons.) from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, MS from University of Iowa, and MS and PhD from Purdue University. He has published 150+ papers in well-regarded journals and international conferences in areas of business analytics, telecommunication, innovation and information security. Among these, 72 papers have appeared in top-tier peer-reviewed journals. In two recently published articles, he was ranked as the 29 th most productive researcher in the world, in terms of publications in top-tier journals in Information Systems (2005-2014), and the most productive researcher in terms of quality and quantity among all academics across all disciplines in Indian management schools (2004-2014). Dr. Bose serves on the editorial board of international journals such as Communications of the AIS, Decision Support Systems (Senior Editor), Information & Management, Journal of the AIS, Information Technology & Management, Journal of Database Management, etc. He is frequently included as a programme committee member for major international conferences in ICT. Prof. Bose has led a large number of management development programme for executives of public and private sector organisations of India in the areas of general management, business analytics, digital and social media marketing, and digital transformation through innovation. Prof. Ashok Banerjee joined Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) as a Professor (of Finance and Control) in August 2004. Prior to joining IIM-C, he was a professor at IIM-Lucknow. He has been the Dean (of New Initiatives and External Relations) of IIM-C. He is a Postgraduate in Commerce from University of Calcutta, and a qualified Chartered Accountant. He obtained his Ph.D. for research on Economic Value-added as a Performance Measure. Prof. Banerjee teaches Corporate Finance in the first year, and Corporate Restructuring, Trading Strategies and Quantitative Applications in Finance in the second year of the Post Graduate Programme at IIM-C. He also teaches Empirical Finance and Corporate Finance in the fellowship programme (equivalent to Ph.D). Prof. Banerjee is currently the faculty-in-charge of the Financial Research and Trading Laboratory of IIM-C. He was instrumental in starting the International Finance Conference in 2009 at IIM-C. The conference is now rechristened as India Finance Conference and is organised jointly by IIM-C, IIM Bangalore and IIM Ahmedabad. He has published many articles in various journals and business dailies. He has two published books in the area of Financial Accounting to his credit. Prof. Banerjee has presented papers in various national and international conferences. He has also participated as a resource person in various Management Development Programmes.

Certification: Course completion Certificate by IIM-C will be awarded to all the participants. Note: Participants would have to make their own travel arrangements.
