The regular session of the LaRue County Board of Education was called to order by chairman, Anita Cruse followed by a moment of silent meditation and pledge to the United States flag. Members present: Anita Cruse, Chairman Price Smith, Vice-Chair Ronnie Chelf Norbert Skees Dick Greenwell 2. AGENDA ADOPTED. A motion was made by Ronnie Chelf, with a second to the motion made by Dick Greenwell, to adopt the Agenda. A motion was made by Price Smith to amend the motion by moving Item VIII. Reports, to Item V (following the Action agenda). A motion was made by Price Smith, with a second to the motion made by Dick Greenwell, to approve the 2010-2011 Revised School Calendar of 187 days. May 6, 2011 will be a Teacher Workday and May 20, 2011 will be Closing Day. 5. 2010-2011 REVISED CERTIFIED SALARY SCHEDULE AND EXTENDED EMPLOYMENT/EXTRA SERVICES SCHEDULE APPROVED. A motion was made by Dick Greenwell, with a second to the motion made by Price Smith, to approve the revised 2010-2011 Revised Certified Salary Schedule and the Revised Extended Employment/Extra Service Schedule.

A motion was made by Dick Greenwell, with a second to the motion made by Norbert Skees, to approve the 2009-2010 Comprehensive District Improvement Plan Implementation and Impact Report. 7. BOND OF DEPOSITORY FOR FY2011 APPROVED. A motion was made by Price Smith, with a second to the motion made by Dick Greenwell, to approve the Bond of Depository for FY2011. 8. PERFORMANCE BOND FY2011 APPROVED. A motion was made by Ronnie Chelf, with a second to the motion made by Dick Greenwell, to approve the Performance Bonds for FY2011 as follows: Kay Bryant - $400,000 Renee Ragland - $300,000 Jane Matthews - $300,000 9. MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT FOR COREY KEITH APPROVED. A motion was made by Dick Greenwell, with a second to the motion made by Ronnie Chelf, to approve a Memorandum of Agreement for Corey Keith for the 2010-2011 school year. Mr. Keith has accepted a Turnaround Specialist position with the Kentucky Department of Education. RESULT OF VOTE: 4 YEAS/1 NAY Norbert Skees voted nay. 10. KSBA ANNUAL POLICY AND PROCEDURE UPDATES APPROVED (1st reading). A motion was made by Price Smith, with a second to the motion made by Ronnie Chelf, to approve this first reading of the 2010 KSBA Annual Policy and Procedure Updates. 11. COMMUNITY BASED WORK TRANSITION PROGRAM CONTINUED PARTICIPATION APPROVED. A motion was made by Dick Greenwell, with a second to the motion made by Price Smith, to approve continued

A motion was made by Price Smith, with a second to the motion made by Dick Greenwell, to approve purchase of textbooks as stated in the elementary and middle school textbook purchasing plan. 13. LAPTOPS OF LARUE TEACHING AND LEARNING INITIATIVE APPROVED. A motion was made by Dick Greenwell, with a second to the motion made by Ronnie Chelf, to approve the Laptops of LaRue Teaching and Learning Initiative with a majority vote. RESULT OF VOTE: 4 YEAS/1 NAY Norbert Skees voted nay. 14. LAPTOP FEES AT LARUE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL APPROVED. A motion was made by Dick Greenwell, with a second to the motion made by Price Smith, to approve the LCHS student laptop rental fee of: $20 per student for regular pay students $10 per student for reduced pay students $0 per student for free lunch students RESULT OF VOTE: 3 YEAS/2 Ronnie Chelf & Norbert Skees voted nay. 15. GASB 54 FUND BALANCE REPORTING FOR FY10 APPROVED. A motion was made by Dick Greenwell, with a second to the motion made by Price Smith, to approve the GASB 54 Fund Balance Reporting for FY10 to set aside $250,000 of the FY10 General Fund, to be defined as committed to the laptop initiative, called Laptops of LaRue and add to the existing LOL balance. RESULT OF VOTE: 4 YEAS/1 NAY Norbert Skees voted nay. REPORTS Amanda Reed presented the Non-Academic Data Report Denise Skaggs presented the LaRue County Response to Intervention Framework Report

ADJOURN TO CLOSED SESSION per KRS 61.810.f A motion was made Price Smith, with a second to the motion made by Ronnie Chelf, to adjourn to Closed Session to discuss Student Hearing #10-05 per KRS 61.810.f. 17. RECONVENE IN OPEN SESSION. A motion was made Price Smith, with a second to the motion made by Ronnie Chelf, to reconvene in Open Session. No action was taken during Closed Session. 18. EXPULSION OF STUDENT #10-05. A motion was made by Norbert Skees, with a second to the motion made by Price Smith, to approve the recommendation of the Pre-Expulsion Committee to expel, with services, student #10-05 to the LaRue County Alternative Center for a period of one (1) calendar year with the stipulation that student meets all release criteria of the Alternative Center before returning to original placement. 19. ADJOURNMENT. A motion was made Ronnie Chelf, with a second to the motion made by Dick Greenwell, to adjourn this meeting of the LaRue County Board of Education.
