A great deal of effort goes into the overall organisation of the event and by our staff in sorting teams and practicing with the students. The support of the parents during the day is appreciated in so many ways. It is fantastic for the students to have you there to cheer them along at their events. We especially appreciate all of the effort that was put into the running of the canteen on the day. There was so much unseen work behind the scenes by so many people. I really cannot thank you enough. Congratulations to Montanna, who represented Buln Buln so capably in winning the Champions race. She goes from strength to strength with every event. We d also like to congratulate Vinnie Caia for his admirable fourth place while representing the school. Congratulations Monique. Monique represented Buln Buln Primary school at the interschool swimming sports at the Warragul Leisure Centre on Tuesday 3 rd March in 2 events, freestyle and

breaststroke. Monique came 3 rd in both events. She advanced to the Gippsland Regional Swimming sports on Thursday 12 th March at Sale. She placed 6 th & 7 th in her events. A fantastic effort! End of Term Fundraiser Below is a letter that was written to me by Charley and Matilda Kay. The letter is so beautifully written that it explains itself. To support their efforts, there will be a free dress day on the last day of term. It would be great if you could support their efforts with a gold coin donation. Assembly Change In term two, assembly is moving from Monday mornings to Friday afternoons. It will start at 2.55 and finish no later than 3.25 so that students are back at their classrooms in time for the bell to go home. The days that each grade has an assembly item will be published in the Sentral calendar and in the newsletter. Staff on Leave Good luck to Wendy Renshaw who will be on Long Service Leave for Term 2 and to

Melissa Harford who will be on leave to Sri Lanka for the remainder of 2015. Replacements will be announced before the holidays. Have a great week Drew Allison - Principal Lost a Denim Jacket size 10. If found please return to the office.

Gardening and outside jobs Are you keen to help with keeping our school clean and tidy? Every second Friday afternoon 2.30pm 3.30pm starting this Friday 21 st March parents are welcome to help out with a variety of gardening and outside jobs. This will be the same Friday of MARC Van and the same week that the newsletter is published. There are a mixture of jobs that need to be done and will be co ordinated by a small group of parents. All equipment will be supplied. We just need the people to help out. Hope to see you Friday afternoon. Melissa Elliot and Teresa Martyn Parent Club WOW what a crazy day we had on Friday! Where was Leanne Blackstock when we needed her! Thanks to the amazing help we received from all our parents in the canteen and on the BBQ, we managed to get through the day and raise just over $2000.00 for our school. None of this would have been possible without a fabulous team working behind the scenes. I can t thank our Parent Club members enough for the time and effort you put in. Well done and thank you once again. We are still asking for donations of all things Easter for our raffle. If you haven t already, could you please leave your donations with Lyn in the office. Please make sure it is wrapped well so she can t eat it. If you are able to help with the end of term lunch, could you please put your name on the list that Lyn also has in the office. If anyone is interested in joining us at Parent Club or just want to be kept in the loop, please let me know and I can include you on our email list. Just email me at jdoberer@bigpond.com. We have many parents who can t attend meetings but are happy to help if they know what s coming up. Once again a very big thank you to all who helped on Friday. FROM THE CHAPLAIN On Friday I will be visiting classrooms and talking to students about Harmony Day. I will be discussing how it is a day of cultural respect and highlighting the benefits of living in our diverse Australian culture. We are fortunate to live in a society and be part of a school in which everyone belongs. It is interesting to note that as a nation we identify with more than 270 ancestries and around 45% of Australians are either born overseas or have a parent who was. While this is the case in our wider society this cultural diversity is not as apparent at BBPS as it is in other schools. My hope in recognising this day is that students will be prepared for other experiences in life which will bring them into contact with people very different from themselves. The Taste of Good Food cooking program which begins shortly will further aid students to develop an understanding and appreciation of other cultures as they cook and enjoy their food. During the 12 week program each child has one opportunity to cook in a cross-aged small group of 6-8 students. Senior students from Grades 3-6 cook a three course meal and invite a member of the staff to dine with them. Students in the junior classes prepare a snack and they begin their cooking program in third term. While the program is designed to foster cooking skills it also plays a part in developing social skills. Students are able to work together to prepare food and they sit around a table sharing in conversation and eating together. In addition, by combining literacy and numeracy skills the cooking sessions present an opportunity for integrated learning.

The program will commence in the last week of this term on Monday 23 rd March and the first group of senior students to cook includes; Sophie, Matthew, Cody, Asher, Larah, Ayden, Montanna and Bailey. Parents of these students may only wish to send a snack for morning tea on that day so please take note. I am also in need of one or two adult helpers for this session (11:30am 2:30pm) so if parents or grandparents of any of these students would like to assist please send a message via the office this week or email me kingwillbj@hotmail.com. Parents who have helped in the past enjoy the opportunity to work in the kitchen with their child and to sample the food at the shared lunch. The first menu focuses on Greek cuisine and in the subsequent sessions during Term 2 we will be preparing Italian, Indian, British, Vietnamese, Japanese, American, Chinese, French, German, Spanish and Moroccan menus.
