The weeks seem to have flown by very quickly. We have had many highlights including our very moving annual ANZAC Day service, back to back winners of the St Margaret s Cup Netball Tournament, Cross Country and Lightning Premierships for both Primary and Secondary students, Secondary Jobs Skills Day, Alpha Show, Next Step program, Wacky Weather Day, and Year 7 camp (Year 6 camp is next week). There has also been a number of excursions to complement units of work being studied this term including the Polly Woodside, Melbourne Aquarium, Holocaust Museum, Parliament House/Immigration Museum and Churchill Island. Wow! It s been busy! Learning and teaching this term has provided a wealth of exciting activities that have had students fully engaged in learning. Last Friday the Year 1 students enjoyed a great Wacky Weather Day as a wonderful conclusion to their Inquiry Based Unit Whatever the Weather. Students and teachers came dressed up as scientists, weather presenters and meteorologists there were some fabulous outfits. It was a fantastic day with lots of hands on experiences. Students made sun catchers, wind socks, shelters for their teddies and made a representation of the water cycle. It was a very windy day so the wind socks were put to good use. I m sure we re all looking forward to seeing pictures in the first newsletter next term. I m sure it was a day that will be remembered for a long time by the children. Semester 1, 2018 reports for all students P-9 were available from 4.30pm yesterday (Tuesday June 19th, 2018) via Compass. A reminder that Parent/Teacher interviews will be held tomorrow evening, (Thursday June 21th, 2018). The online booking service will close at 10.30am on Thursday morning. Thank you to those parents who have already booked their interviews we look forward to another successful parent/teacher night. It is always valuable to share information and celebrate the achievements of all our students. Our SRC are very excited about the Winter Woollies end of term fundraiser this Friday (June 22nd). All students are asked to bring a gold coin donation and come to school wearing their winter woollies. There will also be a winter themed colouring competition. Monies raised will be supporting State Schools Relief. This is a fabulous cause, State School s Relief provides uniforms/shoes for students who require assistance in State Government Schools. Looking forward to a colourful recount in the newsletter next term. FRIDAY 29th JUNE LAST DAY OF TERM 2.30PM FINISH representing our College with pride at this tournament. Thank you to all the students, coaches and staff, great effort. Our Year 6 students are looking forward to going on camp this coming Monday (June 25th). Camp Manyung is always a favourite, fingers crossed the weather is fine for the three days. It s a nice way to finish the term for our year 6 students. A reminder that Gizmos and Gadgets day is next Thursday for all year levels except Year 1 and Year 4 who will be having their day on Wednesday due to staff planning week commitments. The School Uniform policy is of significant importance to our College. Thank you very much to our families who adhere strictly to the policy. We often receive compliments from members of the school community about the dress standard of our students, this has been particularly evident on excursions and at sporting events. The wearing of school uniform is an integral part of being a member of the Timbarra P-9 College community and your support in the implementation of this policy is very much appreciated. A point of clarification for the Secondary uniform, in consultation with students our policy has been amended to include students being able to wear the Summer uniform during Winter if preferred, however leggings and tights are not excepted with the girl s Summer uniform. Please note that sock type/colour and shoes are as indicated in our policy. Our second hand uniform service is most popular, operating hours are advertised in the newsletter. There is quite a lot of stock at present so please utilise the service if you are looking to replace uniform items. We look forward to seeing all our students back at the start of next term in full uniform. We encourage community use of our school grounds during the school holidays and appreciate the community keeping an eye on our school outside school hours. If you see anything suspicious please do not hesitate to call the police. A reminder school finishes at 2.30pm on Friday June 29 th, 2018. I would like to take the opportunity to thank our students, staff, and parents/guardians for another great term. I wish you all a very happy and safe holiday and look forward to hearing all the holiday news when Term 3 commences on Monday July 16 th, 2018. Our Year 5/6 students participated in the Berwick District Until next term, Lightning Premiership last Friday. Congratulations to all participants. Our Soccer and Netball Academy teams were Jan Adamson Premiers, well done to the football, softball and T-ball teams for a Principal great day of competition. Well done to all participants for 1
