TAMIL NADU NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, TIRUCHIRAPPALLI 620 027 FINALCLAT BROCHURE 2019(DATE: 28.12.2018) The Tamil Nadu National Law University (TNNLU) was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu byan Act of the State Legislature (Act 9 of 2012) to provide quality legal education. TNNLU is the First National Level University in the State of Tamil Nadu to disseminate learning and knowledge of law, legal processes, advocacy and skills, keeping pace with the changing global scenario and in order to meet the challenges brought about by globalization. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has recognized and approved TNNLU under Section 2(f) and under Section 12 B of the UGC Act, 1956. TNNLU has received recognition from the Bar Council of India (BCI) for the programmes it offers. TNNLU is also a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), a permanent institutional member of Indian Academy of Social Sciences and a member of the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute. TNNLU is a residential University with around 30 dedicated teachers, 600 students from various parts of country and 50 administrative and supporting staff. It is located in a 25 acre self-contained beautiful campus with flora and fauna at Navalurkuttappattu on the Tiruchirappalli - Dindigul NH 45 which is 12 km from Tiruchirappalli Railway Junction and 17 Km from the Airport. Tiruchirappalli, known as the Rock Fort City is located in the centre of the State of Tamil Nadu and is well connected by Road, Rail and Air. TNNLU is now in its sixth academic year and the successful second batch of UG programme and first batch of PG programme will pass out in 2019. The District and Sessions Court and other Sub-ordinate Courts are situated within a radius of 10 km. of TNNLU campus which facilitates an easy and effective interaction between the TNNLU, the Courts and the Bar. Prof. (Dr.) Kamala Sankaran Vice-Chancellor Professors of international repute from world-class foreign Universities as well as Judges, Senior Advocates, Academicians, Practitioners and other subject experts visit TNNLU and offer short term courses and special lectures on various emerging areas that create an interest and opportunity for the students to choose their relevant area of future work /specialization. The TNNLU has a dedicated Centre for Research and Writing, a Centre for Competition Law and a Centre for Labour and Development which are involved in ongoing research projects and programmes.
The campus life in TNNLU is very vibrant. There are separate student run committees for Legal Aid Activities, Moot Court, Office of Career Services, Alternate Dispute Resolution and the Constitution Law Society.In addition, students may opt to join the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Eco Club, Sports Club, Music Club, Photography & Film Club, Dance Club, Debate &Literary Club, Theatre Club, Newsletter Club and Translation Club etc., based on their interests.students are offered special training for co-curricular activities like Moot Court and Alternate Dispute Resolution mechanism. TNNLU offers the following programmes: a) A five year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Programme - intake 60 students b) A five year integrated B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) Programme - intake 60 students c) One year LL.M. Programme - total intake 18 students (i) LL.M. (Corporate and Securities Laws) (ii) LL.M. (Intellectual Property Laws) (iii) LL.M. (Natural Resources Law) Adequate infrastructural facilities with separate Administrative, Academic, Amenities, Examination and Library Blocks, Halls of Residence for Men and Women students, Moot Court Hall, Mess, Examination Hall, Auditorium, Faculty and Staff Quarters as well as Guest House have been constructed. The amenities in the campus include Canteen, Games and Sports, Gym, Wi-Fi Facility, Bank, ATM, Post Office, stationery and printing shop. TNNLU also has a Health Care Centre with a visiting Doctor and a Resident Nurse. A University Vehicle andgovernment ambulanceare stationed on campus for emergencies. The one year LL.M. is a regular, full time intensive programme on semester pattern. As per UGC guidelines, a candidate admitted to the one-year programme shall complete an overall nine courses and a dissertation for the award of the degree. d) Ph. D. PROGRAMMES Higher Secondary (10+2) / CBSE / other examination recognized as equivalent thereto with not less than 45% of marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST candidates). The applicant should be a candidate who participated in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT-2019). Eligibility and admission procedure for seats under the NRI/OCI quota will be separately notified on the TNNLU website. Three / Five years B.L. or LL.B. or B.L. (Hons.) or LL.B. (Hons.) or its equivalent there to with not less than 55% in aggregate (50% in case of SC/ST candidates). The applicant should be a candidate who participated in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT-2019). SCHOLARSHIPS TNNLU Scholarship Policy offers limited / need-based scholarship to students.
