Graduation Plan Decision Making Chart Student Name: ID #: Select a Major and Minor that interests you. You will be taking courses in both your Major and Minor for the first two years of high school. This will give you an opportunity to explore two pathways and then select which one you would prefer to pursue towards the high school graduation and beyond. Arts & Humanities: This pathway includes a diverse selection of artistic and linguistic choices. Students who appreciate artistic endeavors will enjoy this pathway. It also makes an excellent Minor selection for those who enjoy the arts but do not seek to Major in these areas. Business & Industry: This pathway includes many hands-on and career-focused options. Students can easily build and master skills used in today s workforce and continue their education in college or trade school, or perhaps enter the workforce after high school. Public Services: Cosmetology is included in this pathway which offers students the opportunity to earn a cosmetology license during high school. Students can learn a valuable trade and have the ability to earn money while attending college due to the flexible hours offered in this industry. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math): STEM is hands-on applications of math and science with a focus on technology and/or engineering. It includes robotics, computer drafting, inventions, and experimentation. This is a college readiness career pathway. Directions: Pick one Major, one Minor, rank your top five elective selections, and place a next to all others which interest you. 2/3/2014 There are two main purposes with HB 5: 1. Reduce the number of state end-of-course assessments required for high school students to graduate. 2. Allow high school students greater flexibility in choosing their courses while maintaining academic rigor. Minor - a subject or a course of study pursued by a student, especially a candidate for a degree, subordinately or supplementary to a major or principal subject or course.
