BHIMRAO AMBEDKAR UNIVERSITY, AGRA (Formerly Agra University, Agra) Ph.D. ADMISSIONS 2018 19 The foundation of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University (originally known as Agra University) was laid on the 1st of July, 1927, as a result of hectic efforts of a band of enthusiastic educationists like Rev. Canon A.W. Davis, Shri Munshi Narain Prasad Asthana, Dr. L.P. Mathur, Shri Lala Dewan Chand, Shri Rai Bahadur Anand Swaroop and Dr. Brajendra Swaroop. Original jurisdiction of University extended over United Provinces of Agra, Central India and Rajputana with 14 affiliated colleges and 2530 students of which, 1475 students

belonged to United Provinces. Initially, there were only four faculties in the University viz. Arts, Sciences, Commerce and Law. Faculties of Medicine (1936), Agriculture (1938), Home Science (1980), Basic Sciences (1981), Fine Arts (1982) and Management (1994) were added subsequently. A decisive characteristic in influencing the education of an academic institution is the pursuit of excellence and consistent adherence to high standard in terms of imparting knowledge promoting research. During last 90 years the University has endeavored to keep adopting these high ideas and has established rich traditions and evolved respect from the intellectual community. University has sincerely served the cause of higher education in northern India. The ancient principle of integrating ethical and moral values in education has been the Endeavour of the University. To inculcate these essential values in its students academicians have been assiduously trying to sharpen the content and curriculum of the University. The Agra University, Agra was renamed as Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra from 24.09.1995 vide U.P. Govt. Notification No. 33/XVII-V-1-1(ka)-43-1996, dated 06.01.1996). The University now caters to the educational need of the eight districts of Agra & Aligarh Division: Agra, Aligarh, Mainpuri, Hathras, Firozabad, Etah, Kasganj and Mathura. Besides, the University is proud of having affiliated to it, Sarojini Naidu Medical College, which is one of the oldest Medical Institute of Country. At present university have approx 1000 affiliated colleges and 18 residential Departments / Institutes spread out in its four residential campus viz. Paliwal Park Campus, Khandari Campus, Civil Lines Campus and Chhaleshar Campus. Furthermore, this university affiliates colleges of Homeopathy, extending all over the State of U.P. The University is steadily surging ahead as a centre for higher scientific vocational and job oriented education and innovative research. The goal of the University is to innovate in the field of education and to become a centre of excellence both nationally and internationally. The University is not only confined to impart quality education but also to satisfy the burning desire of the students who are exploring the creative intellect and learning attitude of the students. No separate information will be provided. 1 GENERAL INFORMATION 1.1 Information of the admission procedure shall be displayed on the University website www.dbrau.org.in. Candidates are advised to check the University website regularly for updates. 1.2 The Ph.D. program shall be full time. 1.3 Reservation shall be admissible as per U.P. State Government Reservation policy. 1.4 Candidates claiming benefit of reservation shall have to produce the Caste certificate which could be verified through Government website. 1.5 The Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes candidates originally belonging to Uttar Pradesh will exclusively be given the benefit of reservation. Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes candidates of other States shall be treated as Unreserved. 1.6 Application Fee per subject is: General and OBC Rs. 1000.00/ SC and ST Rs. 700.00 1.7 All fees deposited at the time of Application Form shall not be refunded under any circumstances. 1.8 All original certificates have to be produced at the time of interview to be commenced prier to Course work. Xerox or internet copies and provisional shall not be considered. 1.9 The Seat matrix would be prepared department wise as per the National/State reservation policy. 1.10 Candidates claiming benefit of Zero Fees shall have to produce the Income certificate which could be verified through Government website. If a candidate wants benefit of reservation or zero fees, then he/she will be required to produce the related certificates during the Interview/ Counseling. No candidate will be permitted to make any change once the application form is submitted. 1.11 All admissions are provisional. University reserves the right to cancel any admission at any stage if a student is found involved in any indisciplined activity. 1.12 In case of any matter relating to Ph.D. Admission, the decision of the Vice-Chancellor/Admission Committee, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra shall be final and a binding. 1.13 Test Centre shall remain at Agra only. 1.14 After declaration of the merit list a copy of the list shall be displayed on the University website/ newspapers. 1.15 It is advisable for the Candidates of Exempted Category to appear in the written test, so that they may have claim in both ways (Admission through Entrance Test or under Exempted Category).

2. MULTIPLE SUBJECT OPTION 2.1 Candidates can apply at the maximum in two subjects. 2.2 The application fee will be charged separately for each subject. 2.3 In case a candidate fills the form for a single subject and later on decides to apply for another subject, he/she can login using the Registration Number provided and again apply for the second subject by the same registration number and make the payment. 2.4 Both subjects should be filled in through the same registration number. 2.5 In case the applicants fill two forms (with two subjects) having different registration numbers, they will be treated as separate applications and such applicants will be allowed to appear for the test in only one of them. 3. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION TO PH.D. PROGRAMME: Subject to the conditions stipulated in the Ordinances, the following persons shall be eligible to seek admission to the Ph.D. programme: 3.1 Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. programme shall have a Master's degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body of the University, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions. 3.2 A relaxation of 5% of marks (without including the grace), from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade shall be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/divyang and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the State Government from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master's degree prior to 19th September, 1991. 3.3 Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. Course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and successfully completing the M.Phil. Degree shall be eligible to proceed to do research work leading to the Ph. D. Degree in the University as an integrated programme. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, shall be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC(non-creamy layer)/differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission/State Govt. from time to time. 3.4 A candidate whose M.Phil. Dissertation has been evaluated and the viva voce is pending may be admitted to the Ph.D. programme of the University, subject to his final result. 3.5 Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution, from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to Ph.D. programme. 3.6 For Ph.D Degree in Allied subjects, candidate must have Master s degree (as defend in 3.1) in the subject relevant to the proposed research work.

4. PROCEDURE FOR ADMISSION: 4.1 All admission to Ph.D. programme shall be made through an Entrance Test (except exempted category mentioned in the Ordinances). 4.2 The students shall be granted admission to Ph.D. programmes through an entrance test conducted by the University: Provided that the candidates belonging to the following categories seeking admission to Ph.D. program shall be exempted from the entrance test:- (a) Regular Teachers of the University and its affiliated colleges who have completed their probation period successfully. (b) All students who qualify the UGC/CSIR/ICAR Fellowship/Teacher Fellowship or other central regulatory bodies for their fellowship, subject to the validity norms of the respective fellowship. (c) Candidates who have GATE score of not less than 95 percentile. (d) Serving Army, Navy and Air force officers of at least Colonel or equivalent rank with not less than 15 years services, applying for Ph.D. in Defense Studies/ Military Studies/ Military Science. (e) Candidates who have procured M.Phil. Degree with at least 55% marks from this University, provided that they had been admitted to M.Phil. Program on the basis of an Entrance Test. Provided further that the number of exempted candidates from all above mentioned categories shall not be more than 50% of the total vacant seats in the respective subject. In case, the students from exempted categories are not available, the remaining vacant seats shall be filled by the candidates who qualify the Entrance Test on merit basis. 4.3.3 The candidates shall be admitted by a two stage process as laid down: 4.3.4 An Entrance Test shall be qualified with qualifying marks as 50% (5% relaxation to SC/ST/Divyang). The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of 50% of Research Methodology and 50% shall be Subject specific. The Entrance Test shall be conducted at the Centre(s) notified in advance (changes of Centers, if any, shall also be notified well in advance) at the level of the University; and 4.3.5 An interview/viva-voce shall be organized by the University where the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a duly constituted Research Degree Committee. 4.4 In interview/viva voce the following aspects shall be considered, viz. whether: 4.4.1 the candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research; 4.4.2 the research work can be suitably undertaken at the University/College; 4.4.3 the proposed area of research can contribute to new/additional knowledge. 5. PATTERN OF ENTRANCE TEST 5.1 Paper I Research Methodology 50 Multiple Choice Questions of 2 marks each based on the following topics Research Methodology, Statistical Data Interpretation, Mental Aptitude, Numerical Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Information and Communication Technology. 5.2 Paper II Subject Specific 50 Multiple Choice Questions of 2 marks each. The questions will be based on syllabus of NET JRF examination of UGC/CSIR/ ASRB etc.

5.3 Interview All candidates who qualify the CET with the minimum prescribed cutoff would be called for the interview. Candidates have to report for interview at the stipulated date and time which will be declared on the University website. No individual letter would be issued for this purpose. Interview would account for 25 marks in the final merit. 5.4 General Guidelines about test The written test will be of 200 marks and there will be no negative marking. Candidates will have an option to appear in the test for maximum two subjects if they are eligible in both of them. The Ph.D. entrance test will be held in one sitting, 120 minutes for candidates appearing in one subject and 180 minutes for candidates appearing in two subjects. 6. REQUIREMENTS FOR FORM SUBMISSION 6.1 Candidates must have following information before submission of form: a. Valid Email ID b. Active Mobile Number c. Alternate Mobile Number (Preferably of parent) d. Photo in JPEG format (Maximum upload size is 50 KB only) e. Scanned Signature in jpeg format (Maximum upload size is 50 KB only) f. Aadhar Card/ Passport 6.2 Form filling guidelines: Step 1 Registration Applicants have to fill the relevant details in the registration form available on website. Fill it and save it. After that Applicants will receive their Registration details in a PDF file. Applicants can preview all the entries made at this point. Take a printout of Registration form. If there is some error it can be edited or they may start the entire process again. Step 2: Application form After getting Registration Number, candidate will apply for the Ph.D. program in respective subject. Step 3: Pay fees After filling the form candidate will pay the requisite fee. Once they have submitted the application fee the data submitted in the registration page cannot be edited under any circumstances. Step 4 Print Application form Applicants can print their complete application form with fee details. After successful payment process application form will be available on website. Step 5 Submission of hard copy.
